nice location, but too expensive for not getting much

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2003
We have lived here for three years now-the rent started out at $750 for a one-bedroom and now we pay $843. (heat and hot water are included in rent). That doesnt sound like much I guess, but you dont get anything except being a block and a half from the beach (which is really great). The apartments are small and old with no dishwasher, microwave, or washer and dryer. The new maintenance staff though seems to be pretty efficient. Our soap dish ripped right out of the wall the other morning in the shower bringing down tiles with it, (yes, the tiles in the shower appear to be rotting) and the maintenance guys were here the next morning to "re-apply" the soap dish. The window sills in the front of the apartment are also rotting, as we tried to nail Christmas lights down and the window sill kind of just crumbled into a wet little mess. Dont be fooled by the flowers around the leasing office, the only landscaping done on the rest of the grounds is lawn-mowing. Basically the only thing that has kept us at this apartment for 3 years is the closeness to our school (Monmouth University) and the closeness to the beach. The apartment itself is really nothing remarkable for the price we pay.
