living on the street is better than here

This place is absolutely terrible. I paid $1710 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment. It has 1 closet in the entire apartment and very little storage space in the kitchen. It was impossible to be organized while living here. That was the least of my problems though. If I am paying such a high rent, I expect to live in at least a decent apartment, but this was not even close. The first week I was there, the dishwasher and dryer broke, a cabinet door fell off, and if we touched the wall, it turned black because they only used primer on the walls. The carpeting they use is the worst.. it constantly pulls and the vacuum can't even get the pulls up because they are still half stuck in the carpet leaving me to get down on my hands and knees every week to pick up the pulled out carpeting. The shower head fell off, the hot water runs out after 1 person showers for 10 minutes, the light blew out in the entry way when I never had it on, the balcony door would not lock and they never fixed it, the bottom lock on the front door didn't lock, they fixed it, it worked for a week, then stopped again, the sink was leaking by the end of the first month there, none of the doors just simply close in the apartment, they have to be slammed to close completely. I can keep going on, but I hope you get the point. We were not the only ones with these problems either.. many of the other residents in the building complained of these things as well. Now the parking, lets not get started on that. Pier village hired an incompetent company to run their parking. We paid $150 a month for our two cars and people were still constantly parking in our reserved spots. When this happened, we told the people in the parking garage office and they did nothing about it. They occasionally booted and ticketed their car often causing the car to stay there longer because the people didn't want to pay to get the boot off. And who got the money for the inconvenience of them parking in our spots' Not us. We issued checks for 11 months to the same company, suddenly it was changed so now they accused us of not paying them. They wouldn't send our checks back to us either so we had to pay to cancel our checks. They also told us on the first of the month we could not park in our spots anymore as they were reserved for another building when we had one month left to live there. Well thats great as we were moving all of our stuff out slowly through the month and we have nowhere to park. By the way, it was a complete lie because everyone parked in the same lot as us still is in our building and our spots remain empty for the month. When we called pier village to complain about it, there is nothing they can do so we were stuck paying rent for a month when we couldn't live there because we couldn't park. Everything about this place is miserable. The beach is terrible as well because of the thousands of people from staten island that come here all summer. DO NOT MOVE HERE! YOU WILL REGRET EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!
