Management Needs Work
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 4/3/2002
Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
Granted that my apartment is considered an "efficiency" it is actually a Jr. 1 bedroom with a bedroom that is no bigger than a walk-in closet, you get what you pay for, I understand that.
I have placed NUMEROUS calls to management regarding maintenance issues, none of which were ever returned, because of course no one answers the phone when you call, and the one time that I managed to snag the maintenance man myself as he was working in another apartment, was a total waste. My heater has not had a filter in it since the day that I moved in, and I had him stop by to see what size he'd need, and he never returned to install the filter. My gas bill was ASTRONOMICAL for the size of my apartment and when I called PSE&G I was told that it was out of the ordinary and that I should contact the management office to have the heater serviced. I left messages that were never returned and finally went out and purchased a space heater and turned off my heat in my apartment.
I was laid off from my job for a period of 4 1/2 weeks and kept in contact with the management office, and on the 15th day of the month (the rent is due no later than the 5th) I came home to find an eviction notice taped to my front door that clearly posted information regarding my name, social security number, balance owed (including legal fees) and telephone number for all the world to see. It was not sealed in an envelope, and the complex was aware that I was temporarily unemployed and that I had mailed the check for the past due rent and an additional $50.00 late fee the day before. It was the first time that my rent was ever late, and they had contacted an attorney and now they are demanding that I pay $170.00 for their attorney's fees.
The management team purchased this complex and made several improvements to the physical appearance, although the work is shotty and does not appear to hold up. The bathroom in my apartment was renovated, which I am much appreciative of, and new carpet was installed. The carpet is of very poor quality and in the 5 1/2 months that I have lived there looks about 100 years old (matted and dingy). I was promised new windows the month that I moved in which did not get installed until about 2 1/2 months later. But what am I complaining about, at least I got new windows, right'
The laundry facility is not adequate for the number of units in the complex. There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers, and recently, myself and another tennant discovered that the hot water was turned off to the washers, so we are putting $2.00 per load (washer/dryer) into the machines that the complex is collecting, but they don't want to pay for us to be able to wash our clothes with warm water!
I have been seriously disappointed with my experience at Buttonwood. bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC
