I've read some of the posts concerning Fox Meadow and I agree with some and disagree with others. I tend to find that these sites present a skewed view towards apartments because mainly those people with negative experiences tend to post.

As a current resident of Fox Meadow (since August 2003), and a resident of South Jersey since birth I'll try to give an unbiased view of the place.

LOCATION: The location is excellent if you work in South Jersey or Philadelphia. The apartment complex lies directly on Route 73 which takes you to the Betsy Ross or Tacony Palmyra Bridge into Philadelphia. With traffic, you can be in center city in 25-40 minutes. Without traffic, you can be in the center city in as little as 15 minutes.

There are MANY shopping centers, movie theaters, malls, etc. within a 3-5 mile radius.

Also, Fox Meadow has its own shopping center. It isn't that good (except for Gaetano's Steak shop), but it does include a REALLY GOOD gym IMO. The gym charge is $25/month for residents, and it includes all the equipment you would need (cardio upstairs, weights downstairs going up to 200lbs. for dumbbells!!). I lift a lot, so this is excellent for me.

One caveat if you rent an apartment is to ask the leasing agent for an apartment further back in the complex (so as to avoid the noise of traffic on Route 73). Also, if you are in a one-bedroom apartment - ask for an apartment on Gardenia Dr. since the spotlights from the driving range next door keep the road better lit than others and would tend to discourage thieves, etc.

PARKING: Parking is not a problem here. They will give you an parking sticker for your car, but I've never seen them tow - so I don't if they even check. My girlfriend parks here all the time without repercussions (or a sticker). Parking is ample enough so that even without them checking stickers there are plenty of spaces close to your apartment.

MAINTENANCE: There is always someone that complains about maintenance. Hell, you could be living in the Ritz Carlton and someone is going to complain. I find maintenance not to be a problem. I had a leaky toilet once in the middle of the night, called the emergency maintenance number, and they were out there at 4:00am fixing it. As long as you aren't and ass, they'll help you out.

AMENITIES: Closet space is exceptionally. You get 2 walk-in closets in a one-bedroom apt.; the only utilites included are water and trash (trash could be emptied more often, but at least the dumpsters are not right next to the apartments - they're on the other side of the street), overall the lack of included utilities isn't a big deal since most places don't include utilities. Furthermore, the low price of the apartments (I think $680/month is pretty cheap) justifies it. Kitchens are a little dated visually, but include all the appliances (oversized refrigerator, gas oven, dish washer, cabinets). There is a patio or deck (depending on what floor you're on), but I've never used it. The bay window in the bedroom is a nice feature. Overall, the amenities aren't anything special, but you get a good amount for the price.

SAFETY: This is probably the biggest issue at Fox Meadow. Personally, I haven't had any problems, but there have been reports of break-ins (cars and apartments). Someone recently broke into the key shed, and they had to replace all the locks in the complex (which they actually did pretty quickly and efficiently in my opinion). If you are a guy (I am), you probably have nothing to worry about. Again, Gardenia Dr. is a good street to live on because of the ample lighting.

RESIDENT DEMOGRAPHICS: A lot of foreigners here (Asian, ---- and Mexican) mixed with military people (out of Ft. Dix and McGuire Airforce Base). Ages run the gamut, it seems pretty balanced all around. Most everyone is nice, but tend to keep to themselves.

NOISE: Ok... I agree that the walls are paper thin here. I've heard my neighbors upstairs walking around, talking, eloping, etc. (as I'm sure they've heard me too). Luckily, my neighbor isn't home all that often, but he wakes up at like 5:00am, so that is annoying. This is my biggest sticking point since I like to listen to loud music and can't here.

OVERALL VALUE: Fox Meadow is not nearly as bad as some of the people here have described. It isn't a "luxury" apartment, but it is nice for the price. To me, the location is a major selling point and ideal for someone on a tighter budget. Lee (the Englishman) was my leasing agent, and he was very accomodating. I've had no problems with anyone since I've been here and plan to stay at least another year.
