I live there, too, and it's amazing how much work they're putting in to renovate the LOOK of the complex and the apartments, without any thought to what's on the inside. That includes security, problems, plumbing issues (sewer backups), shoddy/drafty windows and doors, and bugs, not to mention a staff that clearly doesn't communicate even with each other, let alone with the tenants.

Windows, thats all I ask for. Windows. Everything else is on point. Now that the price of oil has risen over $120 a barrel and Maplewood pays for the heat (thank goodness) it may actually be more cost effective to replace the windows than it was a year ago. The amount of energy lost due to bad windows is astronomical. Even if I set my heat at 68, which I believe to be resonable, and it is less than 65 outside my heat goes on every 10 minutes or so and runs for about 15 minutes straight. The energy bill for this complex due to heat has to be ridiculously high. I would think the cost of windows and a sliding glass door could have itself easily paid for in energy saved within about a year. Even if it were 2 years, the long term would be profit for Maplewood. I would even take a 10-15 dollar raise in rent in return since it would save my electricity bill with the air on in the summer. I was a little sketchy about this place in the beginning, but its looking nice, the inside is beautiful when renovated properly, and its easy access to lots of stores and restaurants without being in the brunt of traffic.

Well I guess it was only a matter of time before they got around to a name change. Most of the time when an apartment complex changes it's name it is because their reputation is tarnished. Time will tell.
