horrible management, horrible apartments

We moved in here 5 years ago and have felt the place go down hill. We could forgive the smell of the sewage plant, we could forgive the paper thin walls, and we could even forgive the low level appliances because it looked like a nice place. After a while the management changed and got to be very selfish and money hungry. The late fees, month-to-month fees, and lease-breaking agreements are absolutely ridiculous. The gounds are kept by hired landscapers and most of the work is not near us. We've had a broken gutter right next to our balcony for two years that was half hanging and threateneing to fall. I don't know what maintenance does. A year ago our dryer started to make funny noises and I smelled electrical burning. They did remove our dryer, but replaced it with a handicap dryer with a screwed up door that needs two cycles to dry. We reported that, by the way, and they told us it was hot when drying and therefore fine. I've also told them our disposal isn't working to which they told us to use ice in it, that our hot water heater ran out of water, to which they said it just got to the bottom of the tank, brown water was coming out of the fauets and that was also blamed on our overuse of our hot water. (There are only two of us, and we are very quick because we have a baby who needs constant attention.) They are, however, very good at coming in to inspect or change air filters with only one day notice. They also only give you a few days warning if they plan on repainting the parking lot so if you're on vacation you end up with a towed car. Management does call after a work order has been seen to to see if it was taken care of, but you have to say "yes" because the maintenance men give you just enough effort that it passes. And forget complaints. We've had people throwing parties until early morning hours, we've had domestic violence resulting in the police and EMS to arrive, and they'll do nothing about people who park in the wrong place to block you car in. In five years I've racked up a lot of problems. Hopefully you won't have as many as me....especially if you pass on this complex!!
