Let me start by saying most of the negative things the other reviewers said were true - unacceptable noise levels, high electric bills due to the electric heat, the invasion of the ants, parking lots where the asphalt was always broken up (no matter how many times it was redone), washers and dryers broken on and off. The only good thing I can say is that I did get my full deposit back.

Despite the problems, I lived there for three years because I had gotten a good deal on the rent, and they did have a nice pool. However, for the better part of the third year, I was terrorized by a neighbor who lived directly above me. This "person" was of questionable origin and for three years was coming and going at all times of the night, and when they were home, was busy stomping around above my head at 1am, 2am, or 3am. I complained once or twice when I first moved in, but then got used to it. Imagine my surprise when the person above me started claiming to the office that I was disturbing him in the middle of the night! I had a full time job that I had to be at at 8am and was asleep when he claimed I was making noise. I disputed this with the office personnel and got nowhere. By the way, anyone with common sense knows noise travels down or sideways, not up. When the office personnel didn't want to listen to the neighbor anymore, he started calling the police. Next thing I knew, the police were pounding on my door in the middle of the night, and ended up threatening me! I no longer felt safe in my own apartment and the management of the place did nothing but get nasty with me on the phone. I had to live elsewhere for the remainder of my lease and still pay the rent. Meanwhile, the creep continued to file police reports against an empty apartment. I also had to hire a lawyer and appear before the municipal court because of the creep who lived above me. Ultimately, the case was dismissed because I proved that I had moved out.

I can't believe you had this experience! Because I had similar experience while staying in Longbrook. My upstair neighbors stomped on me! When I tried to tell them to keep quiet, they got angry and later took revenge by stomping on me even louder and then shouted at my door, claiming that I stomped on them. Same thinking here: noise travels down or sideways, not up. I felt threatened too.
