The apartments are actually pretty nice and spacious and the proximity to the train is excellent (best around). Most of the apts. have been renovated (kitchen and bath). However, the parking problem mentioned in earlier reviews is very true. There is no assigned parking, so if you work late you might be screwed.

The bed bugs are also a big problem. The apartments have been infested for some time and they of course will not tell you that before you sign the lease (why would they'!). Just ask a few of the tenants and they'll be honest with you.

Most of the tenants are pretty nice, but there seems to be drug use and lots of alcoholism. It seems to be pretty safe, but you'll not be living with the best class of people.

The laundry facility is fine. There is keyed entry now (unlike in previous reviews). Management is fine. They aren't very friendly, but they get things done. They seem to want to improve the place and care about maintenance. Bed bugs are hard to eradicate and they do have pest control of some kind visit each month (to no avail).

My advice would be to look at other options before settling on Matawan Station.
