I understand what you all are going through having dealt with the leasing manager. Luckily I faced her arrogance and abuse before I signed the lease and didn't go ahead.
Unfortunately I didn't know about this site till now.
My recommendation to all the tenants would be to get together and file a complaint with the Office of Landlord & Tenant Information,
PO Box 805, Trenton, NJ 08625-0805.
Ph. 609-292-4174
Fax 609-292-2839.
Review this site: http://www.lsnjlaw.org/english/placeilive/rent/tenantsright understand client's rights. If the property is not maintained, you can break the lease and sue them. Write a letter and send it by certified post and indicate how long the complain has been pending. If the problem is not fixed, then indicate you're going to break the lease. Go ahead and break the lease, they won't sue if your apt. is really in a bad condition. Get some outside party to come and photograph the apt., have proof. Good luck, get together and form an association.
They are supposed to keep record of complaints. If they don't then they are liable.
