A View Worth a Thousand Deaths....

Its very good to hear other people's experiences. Things have been good for us there, but no doubt they are a cheap management company. They are not luxury apartments, apart from the view. Luxury comes in service, personal and personalized service. The view alone is worth it.

In the immortal words of General Krang of the Klingon Empire, "To wake and die in this divine sight, is worth a thousand deaths". Very cool view.

I take a lot of photos of the sunrise. Wish I had a penthouse with both views - love the sunsets here.

Moving was easy - we paid a company. But they were cheap and they broke some stuff (crock pot, tea stuff). We submitted insurance claims, we got jipped by the insurance, a rippoff. I submitted a complaint on BBB. But we found a new company with a better record.

There is underground storage but only 60 units are available, first come first serve. Put all your other stuff down there. Closets are pretty big too but kitchens are somewhat small.

There is a jacuzzi in each apartment, very sexy. Also convenient laundry machines, which may not get serviced between tenants so they could contain very very old and smelly lint that will taint your clothes.

We have a terrible leak from the tenants upstairs. She was taking a shower and the water was literrally pouring into our laundry room and flooding the carpeted floors. It was resolved the next day.

The gym does have some antiquated equipment that doesn't work but still sits there. Regardless, having the treadmills and bikes there is good, if you use it. It's definitely worth it.

I haven't tried the pool but maybe that's because my wife made me paranoid about kids pissing in it. I know as a kid I did, so no way I'm doing that again.

It's nice that you have the terrace and can go take a walk the whole length of the building. You can run it too, in the mornings, facing the sun rising. Amazing views.

You can barbeque on your balcony. Just keep things clean. People with plants above your balcony might result in some dirt on yours. Keep it civil, but firm.

The intercom goes nuts sometimes but security's kinda ok here, compared to living in NYC. Some of the young kids who work here as security as so engrossed in themselves, you can't really get them to focus on work. After all the pay probably sucks.

I love the spaciousness, but understanding the management company is knowing how to deal with them. You can get what you want from them. Take care of Bruce the Manager, typically in 2000 building in the mornings, by Charlie's office. Don't forget him at Christmas - anything between $50-100 is reasonable.

We did have a wet floor during heavy rains - the sealing on the balcony door needed fixing but we didn't discover that until the 2nd year. Our thermostat is separated from the boiler exhaust pipe by a wall, so its constantly misreading the temp, causing the place to be cold. No resolution there, they won't pay for the work to move it.

On the East side, big windows can increase solar heat at sunrise or coldness at night - those are vast rooms, be prepared. Crank up the heat if you have to. The night views are gorgeous.

I heard the building wasn't structurally built soundly. I'm not sure, but you don't really hear people next door and they don't hear you. Heavy walkers though, you can hear. Because the balconies are stepped like a pyramid, people can fling garbage or spit onto your balcony from higher floors.

Lots of college kids here with rich parents who rent them an apartment while they go to college. Also young families, different races, folks with kids and older people / retirees.

If you're renting the party room, take pictures and print them out before the party so the managers know the status of the room is documented. Clean up after yourself. Lay tarp if needed. The floors are already somewhat dirty.

Visitor parking blows - must of the space is marked off-limits already and its only one side of the street. Rules of underground guest parking is first 10 guests come, first served. So now that you've got this huge apartment handicapped accessible even, you can't have people over because there is nowhere to park. Folks can park on the neighboring streets if they don't mind a brisk walk.

For resident parking, we're paying for 2 spots which are nice and wide with plenty of space. People sometimes leave stuff in their parking space as though its their garage (bikes, stroller, etc).

There are 2 entrances and multiple levels. It's the entire length of the building. One time I came and found someone in my spot. I believe it was one of the security guards. I also found a security guard sleeping in his cart at night in the garage. I bet he was tired. When I startled him awake, he proceeded to tell me about all of his jobs.

One kid who works nights, aside from his uniform and his hands not being in his pants, you couldn't tell he wasn't comfortably hanging out with friends, laid out on a lazy chair.

I wish the garbage chute was bigger and in every apartment instead of by the elevator. Love the balcony, where summers can be enjoyed.... We're probably going to move from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom. In this economy, it sounds like renting is a safe bet. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
