The summary sums it up. Parsippany-Troy Hills Schools are among the best in Morris County, New Jersey, and a preschool, Elementary, Junior High & High School are all within a 5 minute drive from the Mountain Club.

Drive another 2 minutes and you'll have your choice of roads: Rt. 80, Rt. 287, or Rt.46. The train station to NYC is 5 minutes away. Yes you have to pay to take the train, but then again, people who live in this nice green and family friendly area aren't paying $1900+-$2500 for a studio/1 bedroom apartment. It is a lifestyle choice.

The Mountain Club is popular with singles out of college, newlyweds and young couples as well as seniors looking for affordability. Rents for 1 bedrooms here are generally under $1260 per month and each apartment has FREE assigned parking and plenty of visitor parking spaces (in contrast to Hoboken which saves you $250++ per month). All rents includes heat & hot water & garbage removal utilities saving you additional $$ per month.
The apartments renting in front of the Mountain Club go for $1800-$2500/mo and most other apartments in Morris County rent for $1300 and up. The Mountain Club is definitely an affordable option.

The 1 bedroom apartments themselves are spacious and sell for under $150,000. Try finding a house on realtor.com under 300k in this zipcode - it isn't possible.

The maintainance is high at $500 per month, but remember 60% of this is *realestate taxes* which are tax deductible. The rest includes utilities - heat & hot water, tennis court, exercise room & pool maintainance, snow plow, road salting, gardening and tons of other things. Don't forget, if you buy a house in this area, you will most likely pay $500 - $1000 per month in realestate taxes ALONE!

There is a shopping center & two supermarkets only a 2 minute drive away, a wonderful Borders Bookstore across the street, and the residents are very very friendly. You are allowed to garden in front of your building which is a great way to meet people.

The sales office under the previous management was a bit shady but what the buyer in 2002 didn't state was that the reason he couldn't see the real unit was because at that time there were no more units for sale by the sales office other than the model itself. Anyway, who buys from a sales office' Buy from an existing owner and you'll pay less. Check out Realtor.com for current prices.

Maintainance is decent - as the Mountain Club just brought on a new maintainance company. They will fix windows, roofs, leaks and other things that might cost a lot of $$ in any other home ownership scenario.

The safety at the Mountain Club is supurb. I have never heard of anyone having thefts or otherwise. There is a video camera at the entrance.

Basically the Mountain Club is a great starter home option for those who want their own space and secluded greenery, and is also the lowest rent around.

You do get what you pay for so if you are renting, spend the extra $$ ie.$1150-$1250/mo if possible to rent a fully renovated model. If you don't have the cash, for $950-$1000 / mo you may wind up with a fixer upper model as described by another commentator.

Yes, it could be said that I somewhat agree with the above person's comments, the term "agree" used very loosely. With the extreme exception in the safety department. A few years ago, there was a rumor that a armed man was roaming the perimeters. Of course, the Mountain Club dismissed this as just that, a rumor. However, considering that I USED to live right next door to this mentally unstable youth, I can tell you that this is a true event. And by the way, there is no Borders across the streets from The Mountain Club, it is a Barnes and Noble. To the person above: have to ever been to this "lovely Borders"? And more importantly, do you actually live in The Mountain Club?
