Don't Do It

I lived at Summit Apartments for one year. It is in a relatively nice area, although there is some riff-raff that passes through. That increased throughout my stay. My biggest complaint has to be the incompetence of the office staff. They assumed that because I am young (and they are all ancient) that I am stupid and they could talk down to me and treat me like I am stupid. The kids in the area were stealing packages and deliveries in front of my apartment, and when I reported this to the office, they asked me what I wanted them to do about it. I suggested putting up a note, but nothing was ever done. Those kids stole five packages from me.

Do not expect to get a penny of your security deposit back. The carpet in these apartments is so crappy and cheap that the seams in my carpet fell apart within the year that I was there (it was new when I moved in). This was from just normal wear-and-tear of one person in a one bedroom apartment. They charged me for it on top of keeping my security deposit when I moved out! I was also charged to reseal the linoleum floors. Why should I have to pay for that' The manager said everyone pays that upon move out...they don't mention that when you move in though!

The only positives of the experience was that it is a quiet complex and the grounds are well-kept. You will be able to hear your neighbors though. Not a big party complex though, so it's quiet in that regard. The apartments are tiny, and the money you pay is a rip off for what you get. The energy is completely inefficient. My electric bills were often over $200 for a one bedroom apartment. My cable continuously went out and comcast needed to come out eight times in less than a year because it is "an area with a significant amount of issues." Don't depend on your cable here if you get it through comcast. Everything in the apartment from appliances to closet doors are old and need to be updated. I moved out two months ago, and I am still paying off my balance that I got stuck with upon moving out. I left the place in pristine condition...it was cleaner than when I moved in. This place stinks. Don't waste your money on Summit.
