Pros and Cons - but mostly Pros!

My husband has been living here since fall 2003 and I've been living here since fall 2004.
Cons:
1. price - the rent is pretty expensive and keeps going up... but I guess it's because of the location
2. size - our apartment is a little small... the square footage that they advertise online for a one-bedroom is a huge exaggeration... BUT we have four cats and they all seem to have plenty of space and there are no territorial problems, so maybe we DO have enough space and are just getting huge-room-envy!
3. closet space is at a minimum and the closet doors are very difficult to open (not the best for hanging clothes in, as they won't be very accessible)
4. during the winter, we end up having to use our air conditioning and wasting power, because the heat is on SO high that it's hard to sleep at night
Pros:
1. location - the beautiful park behind us, which includes a running loop, tennis courts, a basketball court, circuit training stops, fields for soccer and baseball, a playground, and picnic tables... perfect for families, people wanting to just relax, or people wanting to stay/get into shape
2. location - we're just across the road from Delaware/Raritan Canal, which is really beautiful to walk along and watch the wildlife
3. location - very close to a small park off Landing Lane, which has BBQ grills, picnic areas, a small lake, etc.
4. management - Kevin is good at remembering people and is always quick to say hello, and he always brings in your packages (maybe this is normal, but I was worried about them being left outside the door at first)
5. maintenance - we've never had a problem that wasn't taken care of within 24 hours... even the exterminator is friendly and chats with us every time
6. pet-friendly - allows cats (which is very important to us)
7. flexible - Kevin told us that you can paint your walls and put as many holes in them as you want, since everything will be patched up and painted white after you leave (needless to say, we've done a lot of redecorating)
8. parking - there are always spaces left over to park in, even late at night when everyone has come home
9. another location point - we are students at Rutgers and it is only a 15-20 minute walk from the College Ave. campus if we are having trouble with the car
10. diversity - huge diversity of ages, family types, nationalities, etc. in our building
11. noise - our walls must be pretty thick, because I'm very sensitive to noise and there are really no noise problems except for children running down the hall (but that's usually just after school), and occassionally you can hear the bass from an adjoining apartment
12. laundry - the laundry room is in the basement, but you feel very safe down there because it's well-lit and a lot of people pass through to go outside and it's right next to the management office (but warning: the dryer may shrink your clothes horribly)
I would definitely recommend living at 10 Landing Lane. We were considering moving to another apartment to cut the rent costs, but after looking at reviews on this site of nearby apartments, we were shocked to see how badly everything compared to where we are. So we're going to stay here, do some more decorating to make it home-like, and enjoy our beautiful park behind us!

NICE FLOORS HAVE TO BE CARPETED 7. POWER GOES OFF ALL OF THE TIME 8. MAILMAN IS A DRUNK AND MIXES UP YOUR MAIL 9. |
