It s like a Monet: From far away, it's OK, but up close, it's a big old mess!
Any good marks you see on this site must be employees for Highlands.

1. Free parking in the lot across the street' - The lot is not free. This is a lie.
Also, it is not a great area where the pay lots are so my friends don't like to leave their cars a block away or overnight for that matter.

2. With the high price of rent, maybe people forget this building used to be the projects that were knocked down. Check with the urban planning board. The Highlands are NOT held to the 4% rent raise that is a law in New Brunswick because they have some deal with the city because they built their building there. It has something to do with "until they are at fair market value" and their fair market prices are higher then the apartments in Manhattan, so do yourself a favor and skip the commute and just rent in Manhattan for the same or a lower price! Yep, fair market value in the location of the projects has higher rent then Manhattan.

3. The leasing office tells you whatever you want to hear. "Young urban professional live here." OK, it s like a dormitory that you pay a high rent in. Drunk guys and girls running around in the halls at all hours on a Wednesday night. Actually holding drinks walking the halls. Potato chips and other garbage in the hallways if you get up early to go to work, but don't worry, they will clean it up before the potential new tenants take a tour!

4. The pool is leaking through to the garage and has been for quite some time, they only acknowledged it recently. The pool did not open in time because they didn't plan for the repairs they new existed at the end of last season.
It looks nice with the landscaping because they know that s what potential tenants see, that s were all the money goes, to cleaning people and anything potential tenants might see.
You know what, the maintenance guys are great, they are the only good thing about this place.

5. People leave the doors open all the time, so keep your alarm on.

6. If you are not a potential new tenant, the leasing office does not call you back for days.

7. TV goes out all the time if it is raining out, and you don't have a choice of providers.

8. People don't curb their dogs or bring them to the designated areas to do their business. This is gross!

If you want to rent in New Brunswick for the same amount of money you can rent an entire house with a yard and walking distance to the train. Just look on the other side of route 27 closer to the school. It has a nice park setting.
