The Most Exclusive Dorm at Rutgers!

I haven't ready anything incorrect on the site yet, but want to reiterate some points made.
- Parking is good, but expect your insurance premiums to go up anyway. Despite the locked garage, you're very close to the projects.
- Noise is a definite problem. God have mercy on you if you commute early into the city and live near college kids. Remember college' No day of the week is off-limits for partying. You'll spend time scouring the RU Registrar site to look for respites: spring break, winter break, summer... all good times to live here. NB: The popularity of Rock Band means you're treated not only to loud music, but loud karaoke. The building's security person doesn't do much at all - especially if it's late... or a weeknight... etc...
- The grounds are nice, but people with dogs are horrible. There was recently a memo sent out about reminding people not to let their dogs defecate in the halls - and this isn't even a very cold winter.
- I don't think safety is a problem but the cool RFID locking front doors do get left open. I've even seen guests somehow override the buzzer system. The neighborhood to the west is great, full of restaurants and shops. Cross the street to the east, however, and you'll be in trouble. There was a shooting less than a block from the building just last summer (07) - you can check NJ.com for details.
- Construction of the building is above average, generally, but if you consider the noise it seems like they forgot to insulate between apartments. Fixtures and such are all high quality, but that doesn't matter on Tuesday at 3am. The pool leak is accurate but there have since been more significant water problems. During a heavy rain storm in 07 the Raritan river overflowed its banks. The garage flooded and several cars were destroyed when the owners didn't get them out in time. The waters receded before the 1st floor apartments were effected but it was a close one.
- Since the building is still relatively new you won't have many maintenance problems unless the previous tenants were destructive. I've had my few complaints dealt with quickly - a bit too quickly, actually. On at least one occasion maintenance entered despite my specific instructions to contact me first. Oops!
- The staff are generally nice but they are definitely in sales. I was assured noise wasn't a problem - there's even a clause in the lease prohibiting subwoofers on the floor - but I often have problems with my undergrad neighbors.
Overall: caveat emptor. g-hKOS7s4Nq5n3hEIpHd
