My husband and I were attracted to The Highlands for the short term leases they offered - since our house sold in record time and we had no place to go. Our window was broken the entire time we lived there. Maintenance entered our apartment for numerous reasons at least once or more a month. When our six month lease expired instead of giving us an option to stay, we were charged one months rent plus 10% for each month we decided to stay. I could hear EVERYTHING the neighbors were up to. I felt like I was in some crummy $200/month college dorm with how thin the walls were. Management did nothing about the noise. A cop was shot outside of our window one night in the ghetto across the New Street ramp. (Right where you are supposed to walk your dog). Even after all of this, we suggested my Sister to rent from the Highlands. Big mistake - once we moved out The Highlands sued us for not giving notice of moving out, charged us back rent, and was evicting us. We had email proof of the move out notice and a copy of our last months rental receipt. But just the fact we were inconvienced to have to come down to New Brunswick court because ----doesn't know his ass from his elbow and shouldn't be trusted to run a ------------let alone an apartment complex. As if they weren't happen not getting the last word, ----tried suing us AGAIN for repairs in the apartment (including the broken window that had been broken since we moved in). The Highlands is unbelievable. Save your money - you'd be better off somewhere else TRUST US!
