Noisey and lacks good AC

We have an apartment that faces the street. Its very noisey with trucks and buses going by. I would like to open the windows to let in fresh air but its too noisey. Instead I have to run the air conditioning full time to keep the apartment bearable. The air conditioner is not sufficient for the apartment size. If it gets above 80F the AC has to run full time to keep us cool. On hotter days it overheats and shuts down. I called maintenance and they brought me a protable unit. It did a better job than the installed unit. Since the AC is running full time it makes for a high electric bill. Ours has been no less than $200 a month this summer. If I had to rent here again I'd get an apartment that faces the interior, you don't get the road noise. Speaking of noise again, I can hear my neighbors stereo all the time. The parking is rather limited for guests. They will most likely have to park on the street. The garage is ok but subject to flooding. They do have a nice computer center and fax room. The gym is ok for a light workout, several treadmills, stairmasters and small mix of machines. The community room is very nice but you are only limited to a few guests if you do use it. And you can not reserve it. The pool is nice with lots of chairs. The internet service provided with the aprartment has been good so far. The area is improving according to local police I talked with. We walk to the trains and downtown at night. I won't do it after about 1am to 4am but other than that I've had no issues.
Overall my experience is satisfactory but I don't know if I'd do it again. They are nice apartments but not luxury as advertised. It's almost like dorm living again with benefits. For $2100 a month I expected a little more.

A $200 electric bill for an 1100 sq ft apartment may seem pretty substantial to a renter, but when compared to a house, I really beg to differ. Not that I enjoy receiving electric bills that high, but when we owned our own house (1600 sq ft), it would cost at least $400 every month in the summer to cool it down. Also, when we moved in, we picked an apartment on Rt 18 because they're cheaper... you forfeit some peace and quiet when you live right on a highway. I believe it's foolish to choose an apartment on the highway if you're concerned with noise. I thoroughly enjoy living here. I love the area, my apartment, the amenities, etc... The pool is such a treat in this area. I believe it's the only community around here that has one.
