Nice enough place

We lived in Skyline towers for a year (2007-2008) and I would agree that the place is a mix of the current reviews, good and bad. We stayed in a 2 bedroom/1.5 bath unit on one of the upper floors of the building and paid over $2000 for rent/month.

We also paid for monthly parking in the Ferren deck across the street ($110/car/month) this is including the resident "discount" and yes, it is hassle to drag whatever is in your car across the street and into building (way more of a pain than i thought it was going to be). FYI, both of our cars did get various nicks and bumps from standing in the parking lot. If you are going to have guests over, the street parking can be difficult if your guests arrive at peak time, but we would park our cars out of the deck when street parking became available and let our guests use the deck with our access cards. So in short, parking is fine but you pay for it and you have to find creative solutions sometimes.

NEVER had a problem with noise. We played our stereo/tv as loud as we wanted and no complaints. Only heard people when they were in the lobby area waiting for the elevator. Also never felt that safety was an issue, but doors do get propped open when people are moving in/out. The building is made up of a combination of professionals working in NYC, docs/nurses working at the hospitals and a some students.

The maintenance people are pretty quiet if they dont know you and they keep to themselves for the most part, but if YOU MAKE AN EFFORT and talk to them, they are actually very nice people. They did help us out a few times by letting us into the apt when we got locked out free of charge ($50/lock out). In terms of service, we had an issue with the diswasher and our air conditioning unit when we first moved in and it was fixed within 1-2 weeks. Not too bad in my opinion. The maintenance people do use the media room quite a bit, but residents do have the right to use it with reservations, so i dont see the problem with maintenance using it when no one has reserved it.

Water/sewer/internet and gas are included, but bare in mind that heat, air conditioning, water heater, washer, dryer, stove, microwave, etc all run on electricity and you pay for electricity. Our electric bill ranged from ($60-$120) depending on the time of year and how much we used the heater/air conditioner.

When we moved out we did have to pay for a 4 yr old broken blind, which didnt seem fair being that it was 4 yrs old and broke due to age not abuse. You do have to clean the hell out of your apartment when you leave, or else you will be charged, but they tell you this upfront, so really no surprises.

Overall not a bad place to live, but it is expensive.
