I have lived in Brookchester Apartments for 8 months. I have had minimal problems. And, the problems I have had, maintenance has been more than willing to fix.
Here, however, is how you minimize your problems at Brookchester. I moved into a renovated apartment. My apartment has brand-new refrigerator (full-size), dishwasher, kitchen cabinets, stove with overhead light and fan, bathroom cabinets, toilet, glass shower doors, and vanity. My walls have been painted, wood floors redone, and kitchen tiles are also new. I can control my own heat, which from what I read is a problem in other units.
I pay slightly more than the average tenant, 920/mo. but it is well worth it. I love my apartment.
Hearing your neighbors sneeze can be eliminated if you choose an upstairs-end unit. If you move into a unit that is beneath someone else, or in the middle of two other tenants, no matter where you live, you are going to hear noise.
I would also suggest, as I did when I began looking, is view each apartment before you decide on which one you move into. The management office gave me four choices of renovated apartments. I did not like the location of any of them, and waited until an upstairs-end unit became available. This only took an additional two weeks.
As for winter parking, and parking in general; it is February, and I have had no problems with parking. We had one major snow storm in January, and snow removal was quick and painless. At night, if you come in after 10:30, parking directly in front of your building is a wrap, but thatýs with any place. But, as a 20-something female, I am not scared to walk from my car to the adjacent parking lot. To be very honest, the older people in the complex are too nosey to let anything happen to you.
As long as you pay your rent on time, and the police are never called to your residence for noise, you should have no problems.
I don't have roaches, rats, or anything of the kind. During the summer, I did get the occasional cricket, but nothing a little raid can't take care of.
Maybe the older apartments have these problems. Try looking into a renovated apartment. They are GREAT!!!!!!!! Everything is included.
I am a real tenant. I am not getting paid to write this. If you have additional questions, feel free to email me at Genius0218@aol.com. I would be more than willing to discuss my experience at brookchester. Only real questions: no perverts, or spam. Thanks!
