Most things about 1180 are wonderful. The view, the building, the amenities, the staff. Issues, though, include ongoing construction and a ridiculous amount of extremely loud fire alarms that have escalated to all out fights with the building management and obviously lies that just keep going on and on, insane parking issues because the building never bothered to obtain ANY parking spaces for the valet to work from.

Fortunately the building has covered all incidental damages that have occurred and have covered the myriad parking tickets as we have no place to even legally transfer the cars to the valet. When things are working or within normal "break/fix" bounds then everything is great. But once there is a significant issue the management will brow beat you and act like nothing is wrong. Cogswell Realty who owns the building has an entire staff in place to make sure that residents have no means of contacting anyone outside of the building itself so if you have price, payment or serious complaints you have nowhere to turn at all.

Maintenance is great and the staff is wonderful. For the most part the building is wonderful and we love living here but there is no denying that there are some massive flaws that they refuse to address or acknowledge and for these prices we should not have to put up with some of their learning curve. The price is pretty high considering what you get here especially for the large population here that does NOT go into Manhattan every day.

The fire alarm problem has stopped. I really don't personally buy the conspiracy theory with the staff as I have had no problems getting issues resolved. The original poster is a neighbor and a friend of mine, but we've had to agree to disagree on this one.
