I called their office today to inquire about parking. $200 a month..... that extra $200 on top of the monthly rent would make living here unaffordable. Any suggestions on parking'

I've lived her for nearly a year, and face the same problem. They used to provided a valet parking service, billed at $160 per month, but chose instead to switch to $200 garage parking. I am usually able to find street parking on Commerce Street right near the building...unless there is a Devils' game or some other Prudential Center event (which is probably 3 times a week). I feel comfortable parking my car on the street outside the building. There are also cheaper lots, but in seedier parts of town. Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap lots that are relatively safe and accessible via the Newark Light Rail?

I'd recommend ditching your car and taking the bus/subway/train, seriously, if you can get away with that (and most people can and don't realize it). You save a ton of money and don't have any chance of anything happening to the car. Otherwise you can park just about anyplace there is legal parking... lots of places on the street, etc. It's a city though... you may have problems. I personally keep my car at my father's and rarely need to use it. If I didn't own a car, I'd not buy one and rent.
