I lived here for 4 years. The one and only reason is the Newark City Subway which is just 5min walk from the complex (some of the apartments are just 1min away). Rent is reasonable and descent in size and look. Great maintenance staff (atleast the one who handled my complaints). Saftey is a major issue, to a large extent it is not the management fault "it's Newark!!!" u have to assume a lot risk when u live in this city. However, this is actually one of the few nicest places in the entire newark. There were 3 break-ins in my apartment since I knew the risks involved in this city I never had anything expensive and didn't loose much and after first break-in I didn't bother calling the cops. If you plan to live make sure you have renter's insurance. Parking is major headache they have only few reserved parking spots and few garages for rent. Since most people don't drive to park they never take out their cars from these spots until weekends and as for street parking if you come home after 7 expect to spend atleast 10min to find a spot and be very good at squeezing between the tiny spots. Me and my roommate had new cars and in a matter of 2 months we had our front and rear windsheilds smashed so we rented 2 garages @ $100/month. I sold my car which I drive only over the weekend. Looks like the apartment office and their main office don't communicate very well. Although I vacated the garage they kept billing me for the next 8 months and whenever I called them they asked me to ignore about it. Finally they sued me for 8months of non-payment I had to take 2 days off from the work to settle this and voila they bill me next month only when I threatened to counter sue them and collect the loss of pay they came to their senses.
Don't expect much from the neighbours they won't bother u as long as u don't bother them. As for the noise, most of it comes from the neighbors some because of the walls and some because of loud neighbors. Roaches are another major headache but this seems to be only for those on the first floor. As I said in my summary "OK Place...Bad City"
