Decent, but Certainly Not Luxury

Lived here for 3 years while attending law school nearby. Decent building. However, for the past 12-18 months, the "gym" (which is about 150 square feet) has basically been 100% useless. The seats and pedals on the two bikes are broken, the treadmill didn't work, and the weight machine was broken. The only thing that works is free weights. Management has known about this for over a year and nothing ever gets done.
The "security" officer in the lobby is only on guard at night. And, like many security guards, he/she pays absolutely no attention to security. They either play video games, listen to loud music, sleep (seriously), or smoke cigarettes with their buddies outside. The security guards also refuse, for whatever reason, to let delivery people, like Domino's, Papa John's, chinese food, etc., into the building. And since the intercom system in the building doesn't work (and has never worked for as long as I've lived here), that means that the delivery person has to call you on your cell phone or home phone and you have to put on your shoes and go take the elevator down to let them into the building, while the security guard sits there playing their games or sleeping etc. The same thing applies when it's your friend who are visiting - there's no way for them to get into the building without calling you and you have to go down and let them in. And forget about FedEx deliveries. They don't have access to the building either, so people end up leaving large signs on the door that say "FedEx Delivery for Mr. XXX, Please call xxxxxxx when you arrive." I've done that before, and I'll just say, FedEx doesn't like to call you, so it's a huge frustration.
All that said, the interior spaces are uninteresting, but decent. The "A" units have the best view by far, including a view of the Prudential Center. Also, the nearby 1180 Building is ridiculously overpriced - trust me, the bowling alley isn't worth it. And having Scully's Irish Pub on the ground floor of your building (as the Union Building does) can be both a good and a bad thing.
