** Management Please feel free to contact me about what I have to say too. you have my phone number.

I lived in Colony Oaks for a year, in apartment 13 2g my rent was $1075 for a one bedroom and the increase for the next year was going to be to pay $1150. I was waiting to post my rating of these apartments on apartmentratings.com, which everyone uses before they rent, until I received my security deposit back.

So besides it not being safe, I say this because there were cars stolen and broken into, car windows busted and tires stolen, a girl that was assaulted and raped, childrens bikes stolen, apartment fires (one in my building), etc. After the building fire, the next day I would have thought the staff would have said something like are you OK', I ran into one of the head ladies and she just ignored us and didnt even care to ask anything. Our doors were kicked in at 3 am in the morning and we had to stand outside in the cold and she could not even ask us anything! How sad is that!
If you want more info on safe please email me and I will let you know about these apartments. There are plenty of safe apartments in NJ, go to Somerset County you will find plenty.

These apartments are not that convenient either if you have to go to route 18 or to the turnpike in the morning. The light to make a left onto US 1 north to get there takes 20 minutes or longer because the line is so long, and that is if someone actually lets you into the line to wait. I had to wait there for 6 green light changes one time, it took forever. On the other hand, if you have to get on route 287 it still takes 25 minutes of local traffic just to get on that! So it is only convenient if you work local to the apartments like in Princeton or New Brunswick, thats it!

The noise was a constant problem; I mean if someone is on the phone in the courtyard you hear their whole conversation. You can hear music and even peoples TVs right through the walls. I will say that every time I called the staff they did try to make it better, but there is just one person after another, after another that is making noise.

Because I was moving out of state for work, I wanted to stay like another 2 months out of lease so that I could spend the holidays with my family. I was told the only way to stay out of lease was to pay $500 upfront that you never get back, plus a couple hundred dollars extra every month on top of your newly increased rent until you leave. I could not afford that so I had to leave. So if you move here dont expect them to do you any favors.

The last problem I had was that when I received my security deposit back because they took $90.00 out for no reason at all. I cleaned that apartment so good that it looked 10 times better than when I received it. When I moved in to this apartment, everything needed to be cleaned by me, when I left, it was so clean it looked like I hired a maid!

They took $20 here and $20 there for random stuff that was a lie. For instance they charged me $10 for a dirty dishwasher, when right before I left I turned the dishwasher on with a brand new tablet and let it run on hot water. How else do you clean a dishwasher' I also bought the expensive stove cleaner and let it work overnight, and then I scrubbed it the next day. But they charged me for a dirty stove. I cleaned so much my hands were all cut up and swollen the next day. Maybe they thought I would not care, but its not the money its the principal. I did clean and I worked hard to make it look good for them.

If management reads this and wants me to change the security deposit thing, send me an email and if you give me back my $90.00, I will edit my entry.
