Talk about a bad experience with our first place on our own. At first, my husband and I thought it was a good find. We loved the floor plan (one bedroom, but bigger than we were expecting) and the fact that we'd have a washer and dryer in our apartment. What we should have considered were the early signs that where we were living wasn't worth $1200 a month. The model apartment looked great, of course, but when we saw the unit we would be moving into, it was atrocious. It reaked of floor lacquer, which had obviously been piled on layer after layer over the years. The kitchen cabinets were filthy and paint-spattered. The shower head had been installed incorrectly, and the kitchen faucet didn't work. There was some faulty and unsafe electric work in the bedroom. And I'm pretty sure whoever paints the apartments in between renters has never heard of painter's tape. The list continues.

As far as the staff goes, don't expect any legitimate help from them. I once called with a maintenance complaint, and the man I spoke to was incredibly rude and absolutely unwilling to consider what I was saying. I could not believe what I was hearing. The girls behind the counter are clueless and spend their entire day taking cigarette breaks. The contentment of their tenants is not on anyone's mind here, which we learned the hard way. This complex also hires entire clans of migrant workers who obviously have no idea what they're doing. They take ages to get anything done, and when the job is finished, it looks worse than before. They'll make however much noise they want for as long as they want without considering that there are people within the vicinity that they are disturbing. Anything to save a little money, I guess.

If you want to live in peace and quiet and feel like you deserve respect as a human being, do not consider living here.
