Years at this apartment: 1999 - 1999
I moved into Hillside Gardens after graduating from college. I stayed at Hillside Gardens for three months. The manager, Barry Geiger, was absolutely horrible. My window in my apartment was broken prior to moving in during the winter. I asked that the window be fixed before I arrived. After moving in, the window was still broken. When I spoke with the manager about the window, I was told they did not fix windows during the winter. In the meantime, I would wake up to find plenty of dirt on my bathroom floor because the wind had blown it through the broken window during the night. Did I mention how could it is taking a shower in front of a broken window in the winter' It took three months to have the tub fixed and to receive a knob for the gas stove. Mr. Geiger would not refund my full security deposit because he believed they were losing money on the apartment when I left. However, he did not rent the apartment again until all of these items were fixed. I was also told there was sufficent parking for everyone. Sufficent parking means down the residential street with the township. Did I mention the outside lighting is provided by the local homeowners' I was afraid to go out at night because my car was parked so far from the apartment and there was not enough light to walk down the street especially late at night. I had to threaten to take the management to court in order to break the lease. I have not rented an apartment since this experience.
