Afer two years, I'm leaving Hillside Gardens. The property has been steadily going downhill although the rent has steadiy increased. Management enters apartments without giving any notice, never fixes anything correctly and when they do come in without any request - don't leave a note to even say why they entered. When I first viewed the apartment I now occupy, I was shown a different apartment - quoted a different rent and charged an even higher rent when I finally got the manager to return my call. In fact the former super actually showed the apartment because the resident manager didn't keep the posted office hours. There is no emergency maintenance - the phone number for weekend emergency was "unavailable" on most weekends. The last time the management came in without notice, items were moved around and a formal complaint was made to the Nutley police department. This is a persistent problem for all the tenants. I fear for my safety and cannot in good faith recommend this property. Package and petty theft is common.
