I have lived here for 8 years. I can afford the rent, but I need to get out of here.

As many of the other people who have rated Madison Gardens, I am in agreement.

Parking: It is true, many people here have more than one car. Some have them scattered around taking up prime spots and yet they never move.

Snow removal: They are good about getting the walkways done, but I will tell you I am sure that that is accomplished for the postal service and not the tenants. The parking lot is plowed into little lanes where no effort is made to make spaces. Parking is tight as it is. When it snows, forget it.

Outdoor lighting: I am the one who fixes the porch light on my door. My neighbors have seem to have caught on that no one else if going to fix those lights but us safety minded tenants.

Smells: I have had several neighbors during my time here. The current downstairs neighbor cooks some gross thing every Thursday morning, waking me out of a sound sleep. The neighbors before this one were great! She was a good cook and actually cooked breakfast in the morning..and it smelt really good. That's how well you smell your neighbors. And forget it if you have a smoker under you. You might as well light up yourself.

Management: These people are borderline retarded. When you go to them and give them cash to pay your rent, they tell you they cant take cash here in the office. You come come back a different time with a check and they tell you to mail it to them. As this happened to me last month, I said to the lady at the desk, "but you are right here! Why cant I just give it to you now' They look at you like you spoke another language. I truly hate these people.

Maintance: I am still waiting for the bathroom tile to be fixed. My landlord came and looked at the falling tile and the drywall that was falling apart behind it. He told me that I need to vacate the apartment on Friday for the weekend so he could turn the water off and since I wouldnt be able to use the bathroom while things settled, I should leave and come back on Sunday night. I did. He didnt do anything, including showing up. I am still waiting for this to be fixed. (This was 2 years ago). I dont feel I have to call them and call them again. Its not going to fix itself and they know it. Plus, where I work, you are told once to do something. I would hope these people would be as professional as I am required to be. And yes, they yell at you like you "did this".

Paint: Yes, everything is sprayed. It is awful. Door knobs, window sills, edging on floors,....awful.

I have appreciated living here, considering the rent has been affordable. And I have had some very nice neighbors. But I also have neighbors who barbeque right under my deck and the smoke sucks into my apartment. I have had a neighbor who would play "Full Metal Jacket" LOUDLY on Saturday mornings and you could hear him laughing. (Very scary). And last but not least I had a downstairs neighbor long since gone answer his door when my sister rang my doorbell (thin walls)with a gun in his pants at his belt, cursing saying "what th f--- do you want'". He was gone very soon after, but I had begun looking then to leave. I stayed since he moved.

If you can do better, go there.
