If I had a choice, I would not have moved in. They wouldn't even let us look at the apartment before moving in. On Day one the problems began. It started with the fresh scent of gas in the entire apartment. When we called to tell them there was a problem, it was not properly fixed. A couple months later, it came back. This time a maintenance man came up, walked into the kitchen, said there was nothing wrong and just left. I had to call the office and threaten not to pay the rent in order to take care of the problem. They expect us to maintain the lightbulbs in the common use areas unless they require a ladder to reach, and there are NO amenities such as included microwave, dishwasher, ceiling fans, not even ventilation fans for the kitchen and bathroom. Which causes the smoke detector to go off constantly when cooking, and a massive buildup of mildew in the bathroom since no one wants to shower in January with the window open (The window is actually IN the shower). The doors to my bedroom and the bathroom don't shut right, and the entire frame for my door is crooked, with a huge crack in the wall that I can tell someone tried to cover up. Doors and closets were painted shut, hot water is kind of iffy (but usually not a problem) heat didn't work at all for our first winter, and we had mice. The dumpster placement for my building could also be better, it blocks the view of the road to the left when leaving the parking lot. I have almost been hit multiple times because of this. Winter snow removal is done, but then the sidewalk freezes solid and not salted, so you are risking your life just walking to the car. To top this all off, here's a conversation that took place between our cable installer and my roomate on our first day.
CABLE GUY: Looks like we got a dead bird here.
ROOMATE: Oh really, the whole jack's dead'
CABLE GUY: No, We really have a dead bird here. (Proceeds to pull winged carcus out of the wall and throw off the balcony were it remained for the next 2 months)
Seriously. Look elswhere in this area, this place is not worth the $1000.00 a month.

Please allow us to enlighten any future tenants that may be reading this review. This complex is a very well maintained property. You have only to drive around some of the other places in the area and you will see that our complex is a beautiful place to live. Yes, the buildings are 40 years old now but we have excellent maintenance. We do allow any prospective tenants to pick the apt. they want. We take pride in the fact that this a very family oriented complex and we've had tenants that have lived here many years. Please don't let the words of a few negative individuals discourage you from living at Madison Gardens. Madison Gardens Management |

I've been here 10 years... and have NEVER had a problem. Yes, the buildings are 40 years old, and there are things that go along with that. I didn't cry and complain when a closet door didn't close well due to 40 years of paint, I went to Home Depot, got a sanding block for $4.95, and 20 minutes later it was fine. In 10 years, I've NEVER had a hot water issue. There are apartments out there with dishwashers & microwaves built in, but they are accordingly more expensive. Do a little research. It's all about bang for your buck, and MG comes out of that equation just fine.

...I am waiting for a squirrel to die in the roof. Hopefully when it thaws out in the summer it doesn't smell too bad, because I know it will never be taken care of.
