I am writing just because I was so surprised by the other reviewer's comments. I love Pine Gate! The buildings are old, but at the time I moved in, they redid everything, new appliances, carpets, tiles, attractive cabinets, etc. You get central air, which is very hard to find in the area, but still pay less than most other apartments around, for a much higher quality.

Everyone who has come from maintenance has been helpful and polite, though it can take awhile for them to send someone out, at times. The parking is adequate - every apartment has their own spot, though some streets have fewer visitor's spots than others - overall there is more than enough though.

Heat and hot water are included, and the town has rent control; your rent can only go up 2% each year. One really big plus about this complex over most others I've seen, is you have windows on both sides - most others have apartments back-to-back so you only get windows on one side, and often end up with a gloomy feeling much of the day. These are always bright & sunny - a little thing, but makes a huge difference to your daily outlook!

There is a pool, but it's nothing special, and the fees seem excessive (but I'm not a swimmer). I would imagine if you had young kids who liked to spend a lot of time there in the summer, it would be worth it.

Pine Gate is not much to look at from the outside, but inside it's much nicer than anywhere around here - I highly recommend it. The area is less built-up than those to the north, with a nice supermarket nearby. You definitely do need a car, though. There is one bus route in front, that goes to Manhattan on a very limited rush-hour schedule, but that's it, and things are much too spread out to walk to conveniently.

A lot of other people who posted said they had a problem with bugs, did you experience the same?
