I've been living at Pine Gate for some time now; and to be honest have not had a worse apartment living experience than I'm having there. Maybe I've been lucky in the past, but my luck has officially run out apparently.
Cheap electrical outlets and poor wiring - the entire living room is powered by 1 15amp breaker. This worked ok in the '70s but today we generally need more power than this. We tend to trip the breaker at least once a week (dangerous to electronics as we all know). We've even had an outlet start arcing because it was not properly wired. Luckily the smell and the dips in power gave it away and I was able to fix it myself.
Sheet rock / painting - You don't have to look too hard to find EVERY place the sheet rock was screwed to the stud, there's a nice bump over most of them. The paiting is adequite.
Appliances - Cheap would be giving it more credit than it deserves. The stove/oven work, but if you expect accurate temperatures and a working clock / timer, this one's not for you. The washer / dryer is a nice touch, doesn't hold much but works in a pinch. The on premesis laundry room is good as well.
Maintenance - Here's where pine gate is an utter embarrassment. You will only get voicemail, and if you call the emergency number, you will get told to call the voicemail. They will not call you back. They will simply go to your unit, do what they think should be done, and disappear. That is, if they acknowledge you even called. Calling the rental office to complain about the maintenance is the only way to inspire action.
The rental office - These girls are great. Not one bad thing to say there.
Landscaping - grass is cut regularly in the spring and summer, the shrubs and other trees/etc are bland and not impressive. This is especially frustrating because the property is shared with another complex who's landscaping is immaculate and very nice.
If you're a fan of wildlife, this is the place for you.... your apartment will be visited year round by all kinds of spiders and slugs.
The pool for the complex is well maintained, and the lifeguards are very friendly. Again, nothing bad to say there.
Parking is adequite and rarely a problem.

Looks like you should have maybe noticed the appliances, circuit breaker and sheetrock issues long before you moved in. Sounds like you're kicking yourself for not paying closer attention to the details. And yes, if this is the worst apartment you've ever had, you've been retardedly lucky in the past.

very funny and I totally agree because I live there as well. The bugs drive me crazy over the summer.
