I made the same mistake of accepting an apartment without seeing it. The only "model" is the office which is in an end 2 floor apt of which there are few. They typically show an apt of a tenant, so you will not know the condition of the kitchen, bathroom, floors etc. My apt had windows that would not close and I had never been so cold as I was the first winter. In 2005 they replace all the windows and exterior doors which made a huge difference. I had new appliances in the kitchen but the cabinets are probably original from the 1960's so the interior is falling apart, and they were really gross so I painted a few and did not use the rest. The bathroom is tiny, but they had put in a new sink, and a new sliding door for the shower. There is not storage, no counter. The wooden floors were in pretty good conditions and I preferred them to dirty and I loved the huge walk-in closet in the bedroom, but it is really the only storage space. It is a small complex and mostly quiet. I lived in the B building which was almost entirely singles or couples...no kids. The D building had most of the families. They allowed me to have my 2 cats because they were entirely inside. They also upgraded the electric while I was there and installed circuit breakers. Little by little they are upgrading the buildings. They are 50 year old buildings, it is a small complex, the rents are reasonable and the property is clean and well maintained. So it really depends on your budget and what you are looking for.

Lots of single people here (both men and women). The apt size is best suited to singles or couples. You can have whatever phone system you want. I had verizon at first but them took Comcast. The place is very quiet...there are few children and almost no teenagers. It is back from the street so alot of people do not even see the place. There was always plenty of hot water. The heat was find once they replaced the old windows. Upstairs or down is just preference. Noise really depends on your immediate neighbors. If they play alot of music you will hear it. But most people are very considerate and not home alot.

Looking for an apartment, single woman, so here's hoping you might share some more insights to this place?? From the reviews, it seems that the place is great. But must have some gripes, no?? Is it that perfect?Does maintenance staff EVER come unannounced? So you have to have verizon as phone service?? Are their bug issues, anything at all? I know I will have noise, I mean I can't afford a house so I can't be too picky. How about the heat, and hot water, enough for a proper 10 min shower right? I am considering moving to a one bedroom. As a girl should I go for downstairs or upstairs? Lots of questions I know but I am hoping to count on some honest guidance. Thanks a million.

It is true that there are a lot of singles and couples with no children living there. However, there are more teens than meet the eye lurking in the shadows. They quietly move around giving the impression they don't live in the complex, when in fact they do. You see, this place is a dumping ground for troubled teens. They live with most of the single men and women, as well as couples, who are getting paid by the state to house them; families with young children usually don't participate. Some of these teens have very serious behavioral problems, and enjoy stalking and harassing new tenants; this occurs 24/7, and no one stops them or acknowledges their existence (the tenants who are aware of the situation, and have been spared abuse, won't say a word for fear of retribution by these nasty creatures). If you are single, or a couple, and do not become a caretaker, you will more than likely become a target for these disturbed people. This place is essentially a mental health holding-facility for maladjusted teens and young adults. Edwards Gardens has many of the common problems found in any apartment complex owned by a slumlord, but the presence of this sinister subculture of teens, young adults, and caretakers makes this place even less desirable.
