Nice, but could be better...

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
My boyfriend and I have lived in these apartments since early 2001. For the most part, things have been pretty good. We were able to view the actual unit we would be living in when we came to apply and were relatively impressed (but considering the dump we were coming from, it wasn't hard to be impressed).
There has always been plenty of parking near the walkway leading to my door, and potholes have been patched at least once a year. For the most part, the neighbors have been friendly...except for the woman who lives above us who goes out of her way to be noisy...stomping up the stairs and walking around at all hours of the night (and knocked on our door several times to spout weird voodoo garbage at us like my boyfriend giving her "bad vibes"). That's really the only noise we hear...but the apartment on the one side is only a utility room, and the stairs separate us from the apartment on the other side.
The grounds for the most part are well kept, with regular grass cuttings, bushes trimmed back annually, etc. When it snows, the parking lot usually gets plowed in a decent amount of time, but it usually takes maintenence a bit longer to take care of all the sidewalks.
Staff is always good at notifying in advance if they will be spraying for bugs or if the state inspector will be coming around. They just weren't very flexible when we were 2 weeks late on rent one month because my boyfriend had been out of a job for 3 months and there was barely enough money for food.
We have had a couple issues with the walls/ceiling in the bathroom. The fixtures for the toiletpaper holder came off and you couldn't put them back on because there was nothing in the walls for the screws to hold into, you just kept twisting and twisting but couldn't get them tight. Also, there is a problem with our upstairs neighbor's toilet which had caused water to build up in the ceiling and drip through. Eventually a tear occurred, a bunch of moldy plaster fell, and we still get dripped on when we're sitting on the toilet. We haven't called maintenence on this just because we'd rather not have them trapsing through our apartment and giving our neighbor even more "bad vibes" when they have to go into her apartment to fix her toilet.
I do however have a problem with their ad on forrent.com being misleading. Don't believe it when they say a 1 bdrm is minimum 870 sqft. Even the floorplan they have showing is at most 730 sqft, including closet space. My unit is at most 670 sqft, including closet space. Also, I have yet to see this "abundance of recreational facilities" they promise. There is a pool there, but it has never been opened in the 3 years we've lived there.
All in all, you do get what you pay for. There are plenty of other 1 bedroom apartments in this area that have rent prices 1.5-2x more than what we pay. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
