i have lived in harbortown since 1999.i was also under the impression that this was an all working class community.the application process was extensive and the monthly requirements were a clear indicator that this community was on it's way to be one of the most upscale communities in this town.i can assure you there were no section 8 families in the community at that time.now 8 years later i can say that i am totally disgusted and know for a fact that this will be my last year here.all of the complaints mentioned are 100% true.take if from someone who has been here long enough to know.i moved here from brooklyn and can honestly and proudly say that i come from a family who was on scetion 8,so please know there are no discriminating under tones here.but we were raised to respect where we lived and those around us.the parents and children/teens in this complex are horrific and have no values what so ever.my bedroom faces the playground area/zoo and all during the night you are sure to hear young children(unsupervised) yelling and playing, along with teens playing music, cursing, fighting, drinking and smoking weed.i can't tell you how many times i have called the police only to find that nothing is done or they never show up.security is definitely a joke and a waste of time and $$$.i have spoken to manangent several times to only be accused of being discriminating and told that in order to see results they would need the names and addresses of the offenders.i work 7.75 hours per day and have a 2 hour communte, when do i have time to police harbortown'it's very sad because the complex had so much potential but 8 years later and things getting worst every month tells me there will be no change and this will eventually be a project for section 8 renters only!!!!!....please don't rent or buy in here.

Then we must have been neighbors! Everthing in this person post is definitely true. We too came from Brooklyn and like the person said above, when it came time to go thru the application process we felt like we were under investigation. Real strict. We came in 2000 and there was no mention to us nor was it stated in the ad in the newspaper that this was a section 8 community. I did not find out until a year later by a resident who happen to own the hair braiding shop across from harbortown. she informed me during a conversation about the place, she stated she was moving because she was fed up with mgmt, increase in rent and her neighbors. Not long after that, we noticed the change in the community. Most of all the NYers we met that lived here were moving back because of the section 8 people. Now all people on sec 8 are not bad, but they seemed to have found the worst. Totally disrecptful. Management does not care because they are getting the money. The police have been called so much they don't respond or take their time in coming. Like management, they tell us WE need to get names and addresses and report the people to mgt. First of all I work 10hrs, my husband 12 , I'm not nor will I allow him to chase down these folks. The police that night were looking for the gun the guy they arrested had, now if they got weapons, do you think we should be doing their jobs. Security is a joke. They can not do anything as they have told several of us. All they DO is leave a note. This has become the high price PROJECTS already. We are saving up so we can move and hopefully next year will be it for us. Mgt can play stupid if they want, but we have documented with pictures and video over the years we have been here. So there is proof

I am a mother of five, that's right five kids. I am looking to perhaps move my family into HTT. I am the recepient of a SECTION 8 VOUCHER. I've been reading some of the postings and I am totally outraged at how you so-called "working class" people have the audacity to think that you are better than someone else. My children are very well behaved. I and my husband put alot of energy ( with the lord's help) into raising our children to respect not only other people ,but also to respect where they live. I am coming from an enviroment that is for lack of a better word "ghetto", however I have to say that my current neighbors seem to have more class than some of you. If or when I decide that I want to live in HTT, I pray that my family is not exposed to the kind of prejudices, ignorance and hate that you all have so openly displayed.

uhhh, lady, if u really read the reviews, u would see that pretty much all of the ppl said they do not discriminate sec 8 ppl, and some have even said they came from sec 8 homes as well. but they have seen an increase in the sec 8 renters, accordingly with the increase in crime and disrespectful adults as well as chilren. so to me that seems like simple math, not calculus. and not to say that all these ppl are on sec 8. but time, experience, and observations seem to lead an educated conclusion that an increase in sec 8 renters has broughten about an increase in the deliquencies stated above. no one said u or ur children were like those otehrs. they are the ones who put ppl like u under a stigma. and i hope u keep instilling those good values in your children and teach them this is not a proper and socially acceptable way of living.

Actually if you ask the management -the Section 8 people don't usually give a problem because they are afraid to get evicted/kicked off section 8. (However of course some children may be section-8 that give problems.) It is very accurate what people write. I am not prejudice- in fact we are a bi-racial family and moved here from Jersey City (unfortunately- we should have stayed there). So I know all about the "ghetto"...I once fell on hard times and know very well about being poor- although I never got section-8 priveledges. Let me tell you - these are despicable people. You have no idea till you actually live here. Its not cause they are black, spanish, white, purple, green-- its cause they are low class morons/idiots/punks/thugs and have no respect in them whatsoegver- not to mention the brains God gave a housefly. They are lollipop gangsters...wanna be thugs who do and sell drugs right in front of your face. Management doesn't care and the cops can't catch them. The parents don't care. Please keep in mind people are writing complaints so you can avoid their mistakes. My only motive is to spare others the anguish I have been through over the last year.
