My husband and I are seriously considering moving to Harbortown Terrace with our two young children. After reading the reviews, we are quite skeptical about making the move. Is half of the things written about Harbortown Terrace true' For example, paper thin walls' Loud & noisy teenagers' Joke of security' Etc' Please can anyone offer and type of insight into the housing situation there. Thanks ahead!

My name is Marcos Achamizo a tenant from 732 High St. who has living 2 years and half and I have a positive comment in relation to Harbortown Terrace. The apartment where I was living was quiet, no children in this section and all neighbor are nice and gentle. I am moving out this Tuesday, April 31, 2009, moving to North Caroline.

I live near the person who has responded first and I will give you my honest opinion since moving here in October. Yes, the walls are paper thin. When people are outside talking, it seems like they are in your apartment! There is a car alarm that goes of daily (early in the morning) that can be annoying if you are a light sleeper. If you can adapt to the loud noise outside then it wont be so bad. Also, on weekends people play their car radio's loud at all times of the night. That will also wake you up. If you have partying neighbor's I would be worried because as I mentioned before you can hear the people outside as if they were in your apartment and of course this goes without saying that you can hear your neighbors as if they were in your apartment. Walking up and down the stairs, laundry time, and vacumming time are the usual noises that come from my neighbor's place.
As far a noisy teenagers I have no complaints so far. Yeah i've been woken up in the middle of the night (mainly on weekends) to the sound of people arguing or coming back drunk, but it's not necessarily teenagers. I think the little kids are more noisy then the teenagers.
The security does seem silly. It's just people that drive around in their own cars with a yellow flashing light. I can't imagine these people saving or stopping anyone because they seem to just be fellow residents. I do see police around a lot though so that makes it a little better.
Can't think of anything else right now, but I hope it helps. Good luck

Dear Anonymous, The fact that there is a constant security presence should raise alarms. I lived at harbortown ports for two years. While my immediate neighbors were very nice, other nearby sections were filled with thug like individuals. The walls are extremely thin. I could hear my neighbors having sex and whatever they were watching on TV played in my apartment. Materials used to build these apartments are cheap. Bathroom tiles pop out constantly, cracks mysteriously appeared in the walls and they consider primer to be paint and wont actually give you a paint job until youve been there three years. Also, beware of automatic lease renewal. Read all of the fine print on your lease. When I did move, they charged me for "damages" and in addition to the damages I was charged a liquidation fee of $400.00. I got back about 20% of my security. Good Luck!
