We have been here 2 months and I don t know what took me so long to write this review - I really wish I had found this site before signing the lease. So, imagine, I am so disappointed with this place that I made extra effort on my day off to sit and found a place to bash Rachel gardens up.
My heat bill for first 20 days ( for 2 ppl - 1 BR) was $250. next month, heat and electricity bill combined was $360 - this was when we use the washer ( small) thrice in 2 weeks, keep the heat at 55 F and cook very little - maybe 5 times a week - once a day. Yes, we had to use a room heater to heat our bedroom since I felt I couldn t afford the gas heat.
The rental office has a very high handed attitude - repairs are done only on specific days - so, we sit without electricity in half the house for 2 days (our TV, computer and heat tripped the system) and the dishwasher was broken for over 3 days
Snow removal is VERY BAD - that too in the winter of 2009. They just don t care!!
When they sell the place to you, incorrect utility figures are given - and no estimates are provide (they say - depends on usage). We called the local municipal department but, could not make any kind of complaint.
In winter there is a steady draft from the doors - cheap construction
Noise from neighbors - is at its best. We wonder what all our neighbors can hear.
And we have yet to receive the water bill !
There was profanity on out front door when we moved in, I asked the management to remove it and they did nothing - we ignored it and took care of it ourself..... should have got the clue then
The best part for me is the location - seems like they encash on that aspect.
The neighbors seem like nice folk - after all, I would think that if someone is paying $1400 pm, they have to be doing OK in life
Earlier I lived at Milbrook village in Edison and for $900, what we got ( free gas, hot water, water and heat and GREAT snow removal) - it was awesome ! The problem for us was commute and noise from the turnpike.
PLEASE - you have to be desperate to move in here.
In their rating system, we cant give 0 , or else, I'd have given maybe even negative numbers. I am already looking for other places to move out and have blocked my moving date with the mover!
Best of luck

I looked at the apartments there and they were horrible! If you have the money for a duplex, I would say that they are beautiful, but I don't know what kind of bill you are going to pay. When I looked at the duplex in February, the heat was off, and the townhouse apartment was on the 2nd and 3rd floor. I thought they were very nice, but the first floor was the kitchen and livingroom and the bedrooms were upstairs. It was cold downstairs and it was sweltering upstairs... I was wondering what kind of electric bill we would have due to the inconsistantcy of each floor. It was as if I needed an air conditioner upstairs and a heater for the downstairs. Needless to say, I am still looking for a new home. It's rough in there and I was not looking forward to moving in there if I had no choice. Good luck to all of you living there!

I live here for 2 years and you know what?? I love this place. I have the duplex, and my bills are not high as you said. I lived in New York for 13 years and Rachel Terr is beautiful place. If you not trusting? move to NY then you will see.And the Office? ofcourse if you wasn't nice to the what you expect? I never had a problem with them. I/m sorry but my opinion is like that. You have a dishwasher, washing machine,drier,2 bathrooms, pool, playground, tennis what else you want for rent ??
