I moved in the complex in june of 2008 and was asked told I had to give a security deposit of 1175. During the process the manager then, Patricia, rushed me through the lease process and placed 400 dollars of my deposit as a holding fee!! Who would knowingly pay 400 dollars to hold an apartment in this dump!! If anyone has had this problem please respond on how you dealt with it. I want my money back!!!

This is the first complex I have lived in where your security deposit WAS NOT deposited in a financial institution and you were made aware of the amount of the deposit, date of deposit and name of the bank. Also, yearly you are supposed to be getting a statement of earnings (the account is supposed to be interest bearing, even though it is next to nothing)just to show you the $$ is still there. Chalet has yet to provide me with this informtion - many of my neighbors that have been here for many years say they have never gotten statements either!! Where is our deposit money going???? I sure hope you get an answer to your question about your $400.
One would guess since the property is in bankruptcy what the next move will be. According to the law they cannot assess late fees due to the bankruptcy, nor can they start evictions for non-payment. I guess this also includes the people in maintenance not having to take care of requests for now over 72 hours when a few weeks back it was 48 hours. And to add insult to injury, this year the pool opened almost a month late and for some unknown secret reason closed a full week before Labor Day (with no consideration of the $50 fee that had to be paid to be a member) I understand people have asked for a pro-rated fee
and were laughed at. This has certainly changed into a 3 ring circus with the manager as the ringleader. If you are that tired of the job just leave!! Why should tenants be made to be the victim if you just don't want to be here anymore. Whatever happens, I hope Chalet returns back to being a decent place to be where management was friendly and caring and maintenance was handled by people who care. There are safety issues that are being ignored, but won't be much longer when the proper officials are notified. For anyone looking here - KEEP LOOKING and make a better choice someplace else.

I live in Chalet also. Where did you hear they are in bankruptcy? That's news to me. Then again, we don't get informed of anything around here.
