When we first moved to Mayflower, we initially enjoyed the nice lawns and smiling faces of the neighbors. Although everyone we ran into was very nice this place does have its drawbacks. Work orders are hit and miss. If you type them out and make them look professional, they usually respond within the week. However, verbal requests and even type-written requests often go unnoticed. We had them in to fix our AC three times for blowing hot air. They said they fixed it. Nothing changed. We had a cracked window the year we lived there and nothing was done despite multiple work orders. However the biggest drawback is the nasty carpet. The amount of dust generated from that abomination could fill the hudson canyon.It jammed our vacuum time and time again and we think we contracted scabies from the floor (although, it could have been the trip to Guatemala). We lived on a ground floor apt, and although you couldn't hear the speak-voice of neighbors you could get an earful of matrimonial arguments. Our upstairs neighbor was large- and you could hear her stomping all over the place. Let's just say you knew when she a) got up, b) got home and c) used the treadmill (see freight train).

Safe' I thought so, although we came home one time to find police officers waiting outside our window because one of the neighbors had seen someone peering in. At least they called...

Mixed emotions all around...if you are nice to Mary (landlord) she'll be nice to you. Grounds-crew (led by her husband) does a good job with snow and landscaping. Most utilities are included...which is nice considering the rent you pay compared to other area prices. 287 and River Road traffic can be horrible at rush hour. Don't be fooled by 'proximity' to workplace.
