Very old and very expensive

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
Lived 2 years here. First the bad stuff.
Being very old, the apartments lack proper basic amenities(even though mine was a renovated unit which costs $200 more per month). The only AC for the whole apartment in the living room is very old. It makes too much noise and consumes too much electricity. I raked up $259 a month for using it like 1 hour in the day and 8 hours in the night and not even on all 30 days of the month. They don't replace it for a newer one unless it goes bad. The heat is a joke. It never worked. Moreover in winter, the cold air gets into the apartment through the openings around the AC unit which is not mounted properly. Better off with a portable electric heater. Moving onto the kitchen, half the drawers are so high, you can't use them to keep stuff that you need often. My friend's apartment had a serious roach problem. The bedroom has no AC which leaves it hot even when the living room AC is on. They'll install an AC in the bedroom for $10/month(they charge you even for winter months). The closet doors come off the hinges and can fall on you when you open them. Be careful with them. The maintenance "fixes" them but the fix lasts only 2 days. The third day they fall on you again. The toilet flush doesn't work properly. Be prepared to lift the toilet lid and fix the flush yourself every couple of days, because, really, how many times do you want to call the maitenance and wait for them when you can fix it better than them. The outdoors are ok, but I know some friends who complained about too many unattended cats and unwatched kids throwing trash, newspaper & shopping ads on their steps. Some laundry equipment near my apartment was bad and was never repaired in the 2 years I was there causing long waits. The roads within the community are bad with holes & uneven patch work. Some equipment in the gym went bad and was not repaired. $25/month extra for installing satellite dish. Rent goes up $50 after a year with no improvements in the apartment.
Now the good part, conveniently located shopping centers, restaurants & train stations. Neighborhood is quiet and plenty of parking. Lawn maintenance is ok.
