Rivercrest comes off as a well-maintained, pleasant place to live. But the real downside, besides the noise and limited parking, is the absolute inflexibility of the staff. Once you've been lured into signing a lease your rent will increase every single year, no negotiations. And should you require a less-than one year term for a subsequent lease, you have no option but to pay all twelve months, regardless of when you have to move out, unless you accept a $75 month-to-month penalty in addition to your yearly increase. This can translate into an over eight percent increase in rent from one year to another. The complex is run by corporate managers who have no interest in trust or establishing anything more than a financial interest in their tenants. You can find an equally nice apartment with a landlord who is a real person if you look elsewhere!

Yes, there is a charge to rent on a month to month basis but that is standard practice. There is also a rent increase each year. What a surprise, prices go up over time! Hey, I wish I could get a gallon of gas for 89 cents but this isn't the summer of 1999. I don't think this tenant will be missed by residents, like me, who enjoy the facilities, grounds, and hold the manger and staff in high regard. Best of luck to this renter elsewhere!

Sure the parking is less than great - that's why you can get a garage if you want a place to park guaranteed. I love calling this place my home until I am ready to buy a house. I am shocked someone has such a negative view of such a well maintained and friendly complex. Perhaps you just have bad luck with your neighbors because this is one of the quietest places I have ever been in (lived in or visited someone). Also have you noticed that EVERYTHING is going up, except salaries. It is getting harder and harder for everyone to get by. Prices go up one place so they are forced to be raised in another place. It is just how it goes. Like the comment before me mentioned, I would love to pay 89 cents for gas but that just isn't how it works. Maybe you should move to another complex in Piscataway where the rent is cheaper and so is the class of people.

Wow, those comments were intentionally insulting, both to the original reviewer and to the people of Piscataway. My suspicion is that they are courtesy of the Rivercrest staff. Yet another reason not to live here! Sure, prices do go up, but plenty of landlords don't automatically raise the rent on their tenants every year.

Along with raising the rent, raising pet rent, and raising garage rent, and the cost of using the laundry facility going up, this place sometimes feels like a rip. You pay for your own heat and hot water. There's nothing for free-- not a thing. And I've rented at a place that compares to the cleanliness of the grounds and the friendliness of the staff, it was cheaper, and we had free cooking gas and free heat and hot water. If I could go back, I would. Circumstances just suck sometimes.
