I've lived at Deer Creek since 2005. Last week we had a fire in our neighboring unit and suffered extensive water and smoke damage. The staff did not even provide us with alternate accommodation for the night saying that they did not have any apartments available and won't have any for a week! They did not even put us up at a hotel even when an officer from the Plainsboro Police (who was very helpful, by the way) offered to get a hotel room at cost. They simply said that the management decided not to pay for the hotel and the lease did not require them to do so and the fire was not their fault! Talk about taking care of your tenants! Even if the fire was not their fault, surely providing accommodation to renters who pay their rent must be their responsibility. Prospective tenants beware. I would NEVER recommend this apartment community to anyone.

You need to understand that the way things/problems are dealt with by the staff are not necessarly how they would handle it. It all comes down from the top, AIMCO. There useto be a account set up with Red Roof Inn for purposes like yours but about a year and a half ago, everything changed. The wonderful people in our main office in Yardley, PA were let go, demoted, forced to resign. They had the attitude that we always do whats best for the tenant. The new VP out of Boston has the tzotal opposite view. Do whats best for AIMCO and screw the rest.
Do yourselves a favor and do not rent from AIMCO!

Maybe the person who posted this review needs to think about buying Renters Insurance...thats what its for... If the fire wasn't the property's fault...NO..legally they aren't responsible for providing housing accomodations for the residents. Yes it would be nice, but hey thats life.... do some research before you start running your mouth on here...

Maybe you should do some research before running your mouth...yes everyone should get renter's insurance but if the fire was not caused by the that person nor in their apartment then renter's insurance won't necessarily cover what happened in someone else's place. It depends on the policy.

To the first anonymous poster - yes, you're right, things seemed to change around the time you indicated. When I first moved in, the staff including Andrew used to be very different and completely helpful. Then the current set of people took over and they're all nasty. Jose, the maintenance guy was always helpful but towards the end you could sense that he was just scared to make any decisions on his own and was always apologizing that "he has to follow what his boss says".
To the second anonymous poster, I had checked with my renter's insurance policy but they won't cover if the fire was not in our apartment. Also AIMCO wanted to charge me for the week that I spent outside while another unit was being readied. Here's the funny thing - the fire was caused by an employee of the management who was using an illegal grill. But you sound like management anyway that tries to post favorable opinions. The office manager Rebecca was the worst. When they eventually got me another single bedroom apartment across from the old fire-damaged one, they jacked up my rent $225 per month despite their assurances that my rent would not go up. Finally it took a lawsuit threat from my lawyer for them to let me off the lease...finally happy in a townhome...future renters beware of Rebecca at Deer Creek - she's nasty and unhelpful.
