Good place, but be careful

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I lived in Fox Run from '04 to '05, and moved in with a two month rent concession. I moved out after deciding to be closer to work.
Overall, I had a positive experience while living in Fox Run. The location was convenient to many destinations, highways, train station, shopping, parks, etc. (except my job). Grounds were kept relatively okay although you had to pay a recreation fee. There was an issue with duck and geese droppings on the pond path running along the apartment during the winter months.
The apartment itself was also good but not great. It is medium sized with clean appliances and carpeting. I rented the upgraded apartments with the newer appliances and pantry. However, the closet space was really limited. Laundry rooms were quite dirty and I dreaded using them. The office people were also for the most part nice when I lived there (more later). Maintenance was prompt whenever I had an issue.
As for negatives, you had to pay for a sewage fee that was about $30/mo which didn't make sense to me for an apartment complex that should take care of that stuff. But the most unpleasant experience related to when I was moving out. I gave a 2.5 month written notice and they apparently did not fully process this notice. The office acknowledged receiving the notice, but on the other hand, peppered me with notices to renew. Upon move-out, I almost had to resort to suing them in small claims court to recover the deposit.
They ignored my nice calls and letters, or simply paid lip-service until I got in touch with AIMCO corporate and had the matter sorted out two months later. THE LESSON HERE IS THAT YOU NEED TO BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR NOTICES AND PROVIDE PROOF IN CASE YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTION. I was disappointed that an otherwise positive experience was spoiled by this kind of lowliness.
On a side note, I also thought it didn't make any sense that they wanted 33% extra rent to live there on a month to month basis after my lease expired. This was after one year of on-time rent payments.
Fox Run is a good place, but take steps to protect yourself. lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji
