Big Mistake

I was new to the area when I decided on Pheasant Hollow, my own mistake for moving here. I also didn't know about apartmentratings.com!!! Wish I did my research. They have recently changed the rules and you may not have dogs, but people with dogs already may keep theirs of course. There is still dog feces all over the lawns, in the summer the stench is unbearable.

The kitchens have outside fans in the wall, which is just like having a hole cut out of your wall allowing the freezing wind, noise from outside, and cigarette smoke from neighbors to come right into your apartment.

The upkeep of the apartments is practically non-existent. When I moved in the bedroom door was stuck open all the way, couldn't move it at all because the carpet was too high. I couldn't close my bedroom door for two weeks, the amount of time it took them to fix it. Good thing I live alone. Then, the door wouldn't fit in the frame, I couldn't shut it all the way, they never came back to fix it, I just did it myself. The kitchen cabinets dip down in the middle from being so old and never replaced. The paint is cheap, everything leaves marks on the walls. The windows have horrible insulation, there is even a crack in mine, which makes for a lovely whistling sound on windy days. These are old apartments, from 70's/80's. The tub is stained so it always looks dirty no matter how much bleach you use. One word sums it all up, CHEAP!

I got stuck next three apartments full of kids, it's endless stomping up and down the stairs and screaming. Empty soda bottles, wrappers, garbage, gum, chalk everywhere outside. I don't know what goes on here, but every week or so there's always a line of cop cars and/or paramedics with wailing sirens coming through here at night.

Pheasant Hollow switched to coin operated laundry machines, from machines operated with a rechargeable card, and never notified the tenants. Many of us had money on our cards we couldn't use. A notification would have been nice! After December, the rent went up $3 and we were never told why. Just $3 I know, but adds up if two-hundred and forty tenants had their rent knocked up $3.

They say the only utility included is gas but nothing runs on gas. Electric water heater and stove. The only plus I can give P.H. is the hot water is burning hot which is nice when doing dishes. That is nothing compared to negatives. I wish they had six month leases, I hate giving them my money every month and being stuck here. I cannot wait until my lease is up. I can be assured if there is a glowing review for this place it is from the staff here. Hope I can save someone and they will learn from my mistake.

Thank you for the descriptive review. Which apartments do you think are better than Pheasant Hollow? I have been reading bad reviews about all the other neighboring apartments. Please let me know. I'm trying to move to Plainsboro but cannot make up my mind after reading all these reviews!

Stay out of Plainsboro all together. Do not rent from AIMCO (Fox Run, Deer Creek and Hunters Glenn). First of all there utilities are high as hell. It's a divided rate among all the apartments meaning you pay for everyone elses usage. Call Ista their utility billing company @ 1-(866)-737-4943 and ask how they calculate their bills. Tons of mold in AIMCO properties. HEALTH HAZARD.....they spray paint the mold with a paint called Killz and call it a day. It always comes back!! These apartment complex's have a great gig in Plainsboro. They must pay off somebody or their inspectors are blind. Well AIMCO has ties to President Bush and Plainsboro is run by Repulicans. You do the math. There is alot of people in this area from other countries and they take advantage of them. Poor bastards are just happy to be here!!! If you have half a brain and can use Google after you move in you can call their bluff on millions of illegal things wrong in your apartment. Window and doors are not secure. You can push up on them and they come right out of there track. Easy to break into apartments. I could go on all day but these to me are the biggest turn offs in Plainsboro. Move to Iraq instead And staythe hell away from AIMCO (Fox Run, Deer Creek and Hunters) Goodluck

I just moved to Pheasant Hollow three weeks ago. I too wish I had researched them better. I found them on Rent.com. I had looked at a lot of places in different towns of NJ for short term leases and couldn't find any and ones who would also takes pets. I finally found here with a 5 month lease so I took it. I don't know if I should be happy or upset. At the pre-lease signing they told me that the unit I would be getting or the one they had available would have brand new appliances. So far I think only the washer/dryer are the only brand new appliances. I've already had to call maintenance to fix the refrigerator because I noticed twice my milk spoiled before the date and certain things weren't kept cold. The dishwasher seems to wash pretty good. I paid $50 at the pre-lease signing, they said it was for the Town Inspector to check the apartment. When we moved in, the toilet leaked every time you used it and also there was no hot water for 3 days. Maintenance came and said something was broken in the toilet tank and he fixed it immediately. He also had to use tools to turn on the hot water tank, not something I could've done. I have so far asked the leasing office and Management what did I pay $50 for if these two items weren't working. I am pretty sure that there was no Town Inspector because they would've seen that the toilet was leaking and there was no hot water. I have yet to receive a response. I can't stand the vent in the kitchen wall because especially now it's Winter, there's freezing air coming thru. I've had to temporarily put a shopping bag big enough to cover the vent so to cover air from coming in. Parking has been good so far. I think it's ridiculous that you have to pay $25 extra per month for your pet, they are not the ones coming in to take care of your pet. Your pet isn't taking up any extra room. And this ridiculous Town rule about licensing your pet. If you have a cat, most people don't let their cats outside, cats are indoor pets. So what is the need for licensing your cat with the Town? Having a dog is different because when they're outside being walked they can bite someone. So ok if it has to be done fine, but why does Pheasant Hollow also need a picture of your cat for the files? Too many rules and regs. Oh, they also didn't tell me that the heat worked by electric. I have since received my first PSE&G bill and spoke with a rep there who told me that electric heat is the most expensive heating system. Wish I had known that before. And why do renters have to pay for water? We rent not own the place. I cannot wait for my lease to be over. We're waiting for our house to be built, hope we don't have to ask for extra time.
