Overall, seems pretty average for a development

I'm a little surprised to see all the negative comments for this development. This is the first time I've lived in a complex and while there are things I don't like, overall it seems average.
What don't I like' Well, no one disclosed that we would receive a monthly water bill, so that was a nasty surprise. For a 1br, I average $30-40/month for this, so it's an extra $400 or so annually that I had not factored into my budget. Also, there were 2 cable plugs set up - 1 for comcast (which was hidden with a cover) and 1 for a local company. I had to have Comcast come over because I couldn't self-install my computer- as it turned out, I was trying to use the wrong plug. So that seemed a little shady - like they were trying to steer people to the other cable company. I had an ant situation once but I sprayed thoroughly and haven't seen any since. At the moment I'm irritated with the leasing office because I re-signed my lease 2.5 months ago and still haven't gotten my copy signed by the manager and my lease is up at the end of the month. Hopefully I'll get the lease in the next 2 weeks with no funny business. If they try to pull something like increasing the rent at the last minute I'll post about it. But I think it's just poor customer service at this point, not an attempt to defraud.
What's been good' I haven't had any emergency maintenance problems, so I can't speak to that. However, I've had 3-4 regular issues (outdoor bulbs burning out, unpolarized plugs, etc.) - and they were all handled within a week of lodging the request. The apt I moved into was clean, with updated cabinets and a pretty recent washer/dryer. The fridge was brand new - it still had all the hangtags on it (but beware of taking their ice cube trays! I think it says something in the lease about a surcharge if this is done). Most of the people in the leasing and management offices have been polite (one exception).
Yes, it can be noisy. Yes, the walls are thin and the construction materials are not the best. Yes, the lots/streets get potholes during the winter that are eventually repaired. Yes, the a/c-heating unit is noisy. But I can't say that they seem any worse than any of the other complexes in Plainsboro.
