Its been over three months and no one seems to know what is going on with my security deposit. The laws of NJ clearly state that a landlord must return the security deposit, or a list of repairs necessary that reduces the security deposit, within 30 days of the end of the lease. Anyone else who faces this problem refer to the laws of NJ and create a letter that states you are willing to go to Small Claims Court. If you have to go to small claims court, you may represent yourself and the landlord may have to reimburse you two times the amount of the security deposit. Please do this to put these people in their place.
