These negative reviews don't make any sense to me

My girlfriend and I moved into a one bedroom apartment in Quail Ridge nearly a month ago. Despite reading negative reviews on this site about the complex, we decided to give it a shot with a 6 month lease (better off here than Charter Oaks). Since we signed our lease (and in the weeks leading up to it) we have been nothing short of completely satisfied with the overall experience at Quail Ridge. It makes me think that they must be under new management- because nothing I've read about on this site applies to our current situation. The woman (one woman) at the leasing office has been exceptionally courteous and helpful in every was possible. She negotiated with us on the terms of our lease and we were able to move in to the complex the day we signed our lease. The carpets were clean, we had new windows, and everything was freshly painted. The maintenance man has been to our unit twice, once to replace a broken blind (he was here within 3 hours to fix what would be considered a very minor aesthetic repair) and once to look at our stove fan. After he finished with the fan, he helped me set up my wireless internet that had been giving me problems, something that was CERTAINLY not his job.
The complex is full of a variety of characters, but they keep to themselves. There are a lot of hardworking middle class families that live here, as well as the fair share of elderly people that want nothing more than to say "good morning" to you on your way out. The fact that the complex is away from the road cuts down on the traffic, and everything is generally peaceful besides some distant music playing or children hanging around outside. Albeit, if you don't like children running in the parking lot and making a little noise, this isn't the place for you (but I'll take children over teenagers or jobless 20-somethings any day).
The water pressure is superb, parking is never an issue, the rent is reasonable (AND THEY PAY ALL YOUR HEAT!) and Quail Ridge's own "Larry the Cable Guy" got us a great deal on our TV and internet. We have had only minor problems so far in our stay here, like a few ants that showed up in our kitchen one morning. We got a couple ant traps and in a day they were gone. Maintenance is always on call and Sabrina in the leasing office has been very helpful.
Overall, I have been very satisfied with Quail Ridge. I would recommend it to anyone.

I read this review with an open mind until I got to the part about QR paying for the heat. I lived there for 3 years and know that QR DOES NOT PAY FOR HEAT. In fact, the electricity and water bills at QR were the highest I have ever paid and that is including my new apt which is much larger. One winter my bill was $400 for one particularly cold month in a 1BR QR apt. This is caused by the extremely poor insulation; you can feel the wind coming in the electric sockets in the wall. The water company charges you $35 for a 1BR and $45 for a 2BR (I lived in both), regardless of your usage. My current apt is based on usage and I pay around $12 a month for a 2BR apt w/ loft. I suspect this review is not altogether from a reliable source.

My husband lived there once...1999 through 2001, and we both lived there once for about 8 months on a month to month lease waiting for our house to be built...2003 through 2004. We had to pay our own utilities too. And our electric bill for a 2 bedroom apt was more than I've ever paid in my 3000 sq ft house with two zones.

This is a totally ridiculous review. You will find exactly opposite of what this person is talking about. Believe me, in every aspect... its opposite... the management hasn't changed. How about the person in management office hanging up the phone on you. How about dealing with the horrible mold in the apartment... this is definately not a place for kids or old people.
