Don't even bother touring Quail Ridge if you are looking for the newest, sexiest community on the block. It isn't. It was built almost 30 years ago and I think I once saw the cabinets in my apartment on "All in the Family". However, that being said, it is definitely one of the best deals in central NJ. A fully equipped apartment (unlike other apartments in Plainsboro QR even has W&D) will cost you hundreds of dollars more in either Lawrenceville or West Windsor.
Maintenance is fine. Any issues I had were taken care of within a few days. The office staff is clueless and sometimes kind of defensive when asked to be of any assistance, but I only had to interact with them a couple of times during the 2.5 years I was there.
Plainsboro itself is a safe, if boring place. If you work in NY you can take the shuttle bus to the train. There is a grocery store nearby and easy access to the highway.
I was even pleased with the return on my security deposit. Hey, I'll admit I did not leave my apartment in the best condition: I did not have it professionally cleaned and I had accidentally put a hole in the drywall through slipping and falling in my kitchen the week before. Surprisingly Quail Ridge only charged me $50 for my carpet (It wasn't in very good condition, I'm sure they had to replace it) and $40 for the hole in the dry wall. I think I would have been charged way more in many other apartment communities.
Like I said, great value for the money.
