first of all. the parking. its only 1 car in the alcove areas and people tend to disobey that even though you sign 2 forms indicating you wont on your lease. ive been here for more that a year and it was great at first. it still is good for the most part. it is very quiet and you cant beat the stores and shopes within walking distance. anystore you want is here, pathmark, shoprite, home depot, walmart, blockbuster. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO STRAUSS. you will go in for an oilchange and come out with half your engine. GO TO MIDAS.the staff here isnt that helpful. my windows leak everytime a rain storm comes through. they also told me no grills were allowed but so many people have them that i myself will go and get one. like i said its very quiet even though i am close to ernston road. the kids are kids in the summer. that ice cream truck needs to be ripped apart. everynight at 6pm like clockwork he comes around and plays his music. the majority of the residents here are of indian decent and you can smell the good cooking a mile away. as for the apartment complex next door.....ITS cheaper, about 80-100 bucks less a month. BUT DONT DO IT. just drive through, look at the graffitti the kids, the grounds....spend the extra cash and deal with this place for a year or two. by the way, if you get into a one bedroom and then you want to get into a 2 bedroom you have to give the people 400 bucks....just for nothing, just a fee they say you need to pay. THEN, BEFORE YOU MOVE OUT OF THE ONE BEDROOM THEY WANT AN ADDITIONAL SECURITY DEPOSIT FOR THE 2 BEDROOM AND THEN IF THEY ARE SATISFIED WITH YOUR OLD APARTMENT THEY WILL GIVE IT BACK. ALSO, the cleaing procedures for moving out is just crazy. so get a copy of them when you move in and go through the checklist as you move in because they want the oven spotless and when i moved in it was already stained and i took pictures. so, if you love your money.....take a few pictures and have them get a copy. they ask for your vehicle license plates and other crap. if you have more then one vehicle, just give them 1 car. they dont need to know all your business. and DO NOT hold your breath for the manager of the complex to do something for you. The guy sits in his office and chain smokes all day. hopefully he will be out of here soon and someone with common sense will change things around here. ONE MORE THING, more than all of the little "alcoves" dont have viewable parking spot lines. some people like to just park in two spots. other then the crappy manager and no lines on the ground and the BS with the security deposit. its alot better the next door. one more thing and thats it. out front of the apartments they have this wood poles that "supposedely" hold up the roof above the porch. but mine is not attached and almost fell twice. be careful.

I agree with this person as well. I have lived here for a few years and if get the chance I am getting out.It is such a share this used to be a nice place to live!!! Now you have to put some fear into the manager and use legal jargon, refer to paragraphs in from the NJ Tenants Rights handbook and site alot of the lines and clauses from the actual SKYTOP lease to get some things done around here.(It appears that the manager has never read his own lease because he is too busy smoking in the basement of the office and riding up and down the complex but turning a blind eye to everything that is going on here.)You have to do this a few times before he realizes .... that you as a tenant know your rights and not to mess with you! The kids can be brats as most of them are not supervised by their parents and run amuck, and the ice cream truck DOES needs to ripped apart. As of late it has been coming around at 8:00pm!!! The apartments are big and pretty nice and the price is great it is such a same that the manager and alot of your fellow tenants are the nightmare. The manager needs to be a manager and uphold the rules and regulations in his own lease. The parking well that is .... another thing that needs to be enforced. Their are plenty of people here that have 2, 3 and fours cars per apartment (which is against the lease), they can not seem to park infront of their own unit and you usually have to park 2 buildings down and walk to your apartment unit because someone who does not even live in those units parks there. SKYTOP must enforce the 1 car rule and come up with assigned/numbered parking for their tenants. There are alot of people here that have contracting vans and take of spaces. Their are plenty of your neighbors that have weekend guests that bring their cars as well. There is a food smell issue ..... we had such a problem with bad food smells from the tenant behind up that I actually sick to my stomach!! There are plenty of RUDE neighbors who seem to think that the front of my apartment is a smoking lounge. They actually walk from their apartments to smoke infront of mine. Of course all of the cigarette butts and trash wind up infront of my unit!!! Another thing is the school bus issue which is a large part the Board of ed's fault .... they send out the school bus schedule and it simply says - say for example building 2. Well the children and the inconsiderate parents take that to be that the bus stop is either sitting on your car and/or sitting on your front porch if you are one of the UNLUCKY ones to live in the assignedbldg .Well ... is just the most pleasant thing to have 20 or more kids and their parents jumping, screaming, running, smoking, drinking their coffee, using your vehicle as a park bench or backpack rack or all crammed onto YOUR porch (when it is raining out to keep dry - yep that's right 20 or more kids and their parents - ever heard of an umbrella??) at 7:30 thru 8:30 in the morning. Of course they all leave their trash behind. What is better yet that parents actually drive their kids to the bus stop and all park their cars infront of your unit, engines running and radios blasting! Hey if you took the trouble to pack the kids into the car to drive them to the bus stop .... just keep going and drive them to school .... am I right?! You must contact the Board of Ed and Skytop if this happens to you and use legal jardon, throw rules and regs that are listed in the lease, the Board of Ed handout and the NJ TENANTS RIGHTS book into your letter to show them that you mean business! So in short ... if the manager DID HIS JOB and some of the neighbors would act human and would considerate to others - it won't be that bad of a place to live. Again, the apartments are big, nice and with alot of closet space (the should invest in new windows some do leak)! The groundskeepers keep the do keep the area clean. The price is good!!! AND if you value your life DO NOT EVEN THINK OF CHECKING OUT APARTMENT COMPLEX NEXT TO SKYTOP!!!!
