Building Currently Under Major Construction

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
Initially my wife and I (both graduate students and full time teachers)were extremely happy at Harrison Towers...spacious apartments, ample parking, reasonable rent, nice people...
However, after several months we realized why the rents are under local average...roaches, odor from garbage disposal areas (make sure to inspect the garbage disposal area for your future floor), broken elevators, stairs do not go to the bottom floor (exiting floor), paper thin walls, regularly broken AC/ Heating units, regular plumbing problems (backed up sewar), drafty windows, soft/bitter water, inefficient snowplowing in the winter (make sure you buy a strong shovel to get your vehicle out from the snow banks), surprisingly high costs for use of the swimming pool, expensive and outdated laundry facility (not climate controlled) and the list continues to grow!
As of September a major construction project has been underway on each apartments balcony...construction workers have been drilling and breaking concrete with hammers and saws every day starting at 8:00AM and ending around 6:00PM (Sunday we have a break from the piercing/thundering sounds of concrete meeting steel). The workers are very loud and rude...it is not uncommon to hear them spitting, burping, cursing, and yelling at each other at 8:00 AM on a Saturday morning.
Please consider these issues before signing a lease...my wife and I are not planning to sign our new lease due to the unbearable noise which has only begun...at the rate the construction is going it is estimated that the work on each balcony will not be done for several months.
