We lived in Somerset Park apartments for about a year, and are glad we are out!!! There are quite a few intimidating (for lack of a better, or less appropriate word) in the complex, who will not hesitate to call out to the women in the development, making it quite uncomfortable to come home to your own apartment. At night, people hang out in large loud groups in the parking lots, sitting on other people's cars. I now have a series of mysterious scratches on the hood of my car, along with handprints from people sitting on it! This is common with other cars in the lot as well. Recently, what I believe to be red gang tags have appeared on my mailbox! Scary.

Aside from the safety issue, they have a major bug problem. Big black beetle-like bugs, silverfish, ants, centipedes and spiders are all over the place. We are an extremely tidy family, and still they were there.

The apartments ARE very noisy, and you really can hear everything your neighbor does, but this is not uncommon in these kinds of complex, and it didn't bother me most of the time. I was fortunate to have a set of VERY nice neighbors, but most were not as great. The kids run around the complex completely unsupervised at all hours of the day and night. They litter all over. They are mostly very nice kids, but it's still hard when they are playing ball unsupervised in the parking lot, hitting and smashing into other people's vehicles.

Overall, the biggest problem I had overall was not feeling safe in the complex. Section 8 can be great for low income families, but unfortunately it also brings in a lot of the less desireable crowd. It really does feel like you are living in the projects.

I work in the office for the complex, and trust me...Section 8 has nothing to do with what's going on in this development. Most of the people there do not have Section 8. While I do agree with everything you've said, I must let you know that you are absolutely wrong about Section 8 recipients. Please do your homework before making degrading comments about others.
